We had the good fortune of connecting with Kesha Denise and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kesha, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose, so for me – my success is having a peace of mind. My peace of mind comes from my relationship with God. Period. Then from there is my attitude. My attitude is to wake up, give thanks for being alive, be unapologetically me and go for what I know! And what I don’t know, be willing and open-minded to learn.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Born and raised in Inglewood, California -from the tender age of 2, I was enamored with fashion the moment my mother put me in a big poofy dress with white lace ankle socks and a pair of black patent leather Mary Jane shoes. I’ve been in retail for a very long time – worked several positions in the fashion industry- from sales associate, to visual merchandiser, to fashion buyer, to now – boutique owner of 7 years of a brick and mortar. I would call myself a “Serial Entrepreneur” as I have learned every aspect of the retail industry. My love for fashion and business continued further. In June 2017, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a concentration in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship from the University of Phoenix. I’ve has had the opportunity to collaborate with a plethora of fashion and lifestyle bloggers, in addition to being featured on radio and also, in major publications such as Fashion Bomb Daily, Kontrol Magazine, and The Marietta Daily Journal, to name a few. In addition to holding down an online store and brick and mortar, my proudest moment was in April 2018, when I started a workshop, Get to It: The Basics of Running a Boutique. This workshop has debuted in Atlanta and Los Angeles and provides actionable takeaways to encourage and elevate any potential boutique business and its owner, as it gives insight, in addition to assisting in the daily performance as a boutique owner – taking the brand to a whole new level of greatness. The topics that are discussed: · Careers in Fashion · Essentials for Opening a Business · How to Write a Business Plan in 30 Minutes · Brick and Mortar vs Online · Marketing and Branding Techniques · How to Find your Wholesale Vendors and Suppliers Now yes, I’ve highlighted some of my wins and accomplishments, however, there have been some lows as well. But through prayer and the willingness to not fail, I keep on going.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting in town for a week long trip, I would take her to all the “tourist-y” things of Atlanta: Georgia Acquarium, Coca-Cola, MLK Center, and every soul food restaurant since we’re both foodies and have inner fat girl moments. lol

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
During my journey in fashion, I’ve met some amazing & dope individuals who are “doing their thang” in the fashion world and have inspired me, but however, to this day, years later, my mommie and granny are the women that I will always and forever give props to. My granny was a seamstress and just everything glamour/fashion and my mommie was a hardworker with stellar ethics and comfortable in her own skin that watching these women, I had great examples of excellence right in front of me, so anything less was not acceptable. Period. Point. Blank.
