We had the good fortune of connecting with Davonte Walls and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Davonte, what matters most to you?
The principles or values that mean the most to me as a young local business owner are determination, humility, and faith. Why to begin with determination? First you must have the drive to succeed and believe that you can accomplish your goal. no matter the obstacles that may come in your way persevere through it. My personal advice would be to focus on one goal at a time and when you reach that one strive for the next one.The Next thing is humility , I believe humility is needed cause we must remember no matter how successful we become or the accolades we accumulate our purpose is bigger than ourselves. A former teacher of mine gave the mantra “ you must remember where you’ve been to know where you’re going” ( Dr. Plothe). This has stuck with me ever since and I strongly believe in it. Lastly, Faith because without faith I wouldn’t be able to be where I am now with my business. I had to leave my faith with God and pray every day telling God thank you for all he’s done and to lead on the right path. I chose to walk by faith and by doing that i’ve reach major goals within myself and my business

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My name is Davonte Walls I am a local business owner of my clothing brand called Privilege Closet LLC. It first started off as a lingerie brand for those who just wanted to feel sexy during the summer time but as time has gone on I thought to myself why don’t I expand to street wear and get a bigger audience. Now starting off wasn’t easy because I was very unsure about my self and the decision I was gonna make. However a month before I started school last semester I took the risk and brought my LLC , talk to a few vendors , and starting selling. Though sells were slow at first after promoting and networking with like minded ppl my sells started to really blow up. Now I’m currently working on rebranding , an upcoming photo shoot , and finding new ways to expand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A few of the places I would visit while my best friend was in town would be Atlantic station to try some of the amazing cuisine around in the area. My two favorite places in that area are Rosé Bistro & Champagne Bar & ALLORA. I would also visit Stone Mountain to take a hike and view the outdoors. Another place I would take my friend is the belt line full of bars, restaurants, and fun places in the surrounding area. And to end the night I would take my friend to one of my favorite lounges called HIVE and my favorite Bar Harold’s & Chicken.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give credit and recognize my mother who has been a huge support system for me trying to start my business and teaching me the ropes of business. She currently has been in business for 7 years owning her own daycare facility called Building Blocks Learning Center. I also want to thank for a sister who has encourage me to be the best business man that I can be. To conclude I would like to thank my boyfriend who has held my head up when I want to give up and praying with when I couldn’t mustard up the strength.
