We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrianne D. Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adrianne D., what principle do you value most?
I would say one principle I have learned on this entrepreneurial journey, is the art of turning a negative into a positive. From my perspective, this principle is very crucial in business because everything changes so much. One day you can be up and the next day you can be down. It’s important to never let a negative circumstance outweigh the positive. When I’m feeling down I ask myself, “What needs to be done? How can I use this negative energy for something positive?”

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a gerontologist. I love what I do, and I love the population I serve! I feel what sets me apart from others in my field is my passion to encourage people to start living healthy lives before they enter older adulthood. I believe and it has been proven, that living a moderately healthy life in young and middle adulthood can reduce the risk of developing some chronic diseases. So my philosophy is, “Why wait until later for something you can do today!?” Now, I also told you that I am a radio host. This is a new addition to my career, and I LOVE IT!! My show is called the GERO-Juice and it’s a senior-focused show for all ages filled with resources for mental health, technology, and caregiving to name a few. This show is definitely like no other because I bring news, positivity, music, and health-related topics all in one scope. I can guarantee my listening audience is NOT BORED!! The diversity of the content in my show sets me apart from other radio hosts and podcasters who have similar storylines.

This road has not been easy, and that is putting it lightly. One way I have overcome every challenge is with prayer! That’s it! That’s the secret! The secret is out! Prayer Works! One of many lessons that I’ve learned and I’m still learning, is to keep the faith no matter what it looks like. I used to get so anxious and tense, and then God would work everything out. Now it’s like ok, I know He got this! But I’m not perfect in that area, so I’m still learning, with a little less tension! I want the world to know my brand is sincere. Its honest. And it’s built off compassion and purpose

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honey….let me tell you!! We are going to EAT up Atlanta!! Because Atlanta is a foodies paradise! And if you are one of my friends, then I know you like to eat! First, we are going to have a good old bowl of shrimp and grits from Nouveau in College Park. Then we are going to hit up some of the coolest thrift stores in Atlanta (I have so many I go to, so I can’t tell you which ones). We are going to hit up Your 3rd Spot because that is definitely a cool place for adults to unwind. Now if that is full, I love the rooftop at Ponce. That is always cool. I can’t leave out the James Room on the beltline for a cocktail or two. Oh! Can’t forget tubing. I have been trying my best to check out Chattahoochee River Tubing. After that we can stop by Jeju Sauna in Duluth. Most likely, we are going to hit up a few outside concerts because there are so many around the metro area. That’s alot! This will soak up the week!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Wow!! This is such a heavy question because I have a HUGE village of people who have supported, mentored, and encouraged me!! First I would have to say I am where I am in life because of my grandmother, Sally J. Woolfolk. She was my best friend and loudest cheerleader! She passed away last year, but her spirit and legacy still lives. Her and my aunt, Christine Grant, are the first two reasons I started working in my career as a gerontologist. And, for the record (because I get the question alot), a gerontologist is a person who studies aging and older adulthood. Also, I would have to most certainly thank my mom, dad, and sister because even though some of the relationships in my family weren’t perfect, they definitely helped build my character. And I have to give credit to SageNavigator, Inc. and Alter, LLC along with a host of some of the most AMAZING family and friends ever!
