We had the good fortune of connecting with Dee Wagner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dee, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
As a long-time counselor, dance/movement therapist, somatic educator and the originator of the multi-generational trauma healing method Chi for Two, I want to bring healing to Atlanta. I am honored for our healing center, Harbor of Dreams Art to be in Stone Mountain. The work that we get to do on this soil brings opportunities to heal both the land and the generations of descendants of the people who were traumatized during the horrors that were committed in this place.

I am very excited to have some wonderful healing professionals working out of Harbor of Dreams Art. Tai Davis is a Reiki practitioner and meditation teacher who is training in Chi for Two – The Energetic Dance of Healthy Relationship. Tai will offer clients Reiki-infused meditation and Chi for Two partner practices. Chi for Two partner practices shift nervous system functioning.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Harbor of Dreams Art and especially Tai is bringing important conversations about systemic trauma to Stone Mountain. Resmaa Menakem, author of My Grandmother’s Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies studied the same nervous system science and trauma healing information that Chi for Two is based upon.

Menekem’s work with couples, which he writes about in his book Monsters In Love aligns with Chi for Two ideas about romantic dances. Chi for Two has 40 partner practices. Five are for relationships where there is ideally power equality, like siblings, friends, colleagues and lovers. 35 practices are for relationships where there is a built-in power differential, like children/parents, clients/coaches, employees/boss. students/teacher.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We are proud to be part of Stone Mountain businesses. Gilly Brew Bar is a fabulous coffee shop that offers spoken word the first Saturday of the month. Yummy’s Vegan Take-out is next door to Harbor of Dreams Art. A fabulous dinner can be had at Sweet Potato Cafe. Karen Patton is the owner/chef who created all the fun sweet potato recipes.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Tai Davis, who does Reiki-infused meditation work is training in Chi for Two. In addition to Trecia Lyon and Fred Shelton, Tai is using Chi for Two partner practices to bring somatic healing for systemic, racialized and socialized multi-generational trauma. Tai calls her work Ancestral Healing Arts. I dedicate this Shoutout to Tai Davis.
