We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaun Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaun, why did you pursue a creative career?
The reason I pursued an artistic or creative career stems directly from my childhood, and how my naturally God-given talents in music began to develop very very early in life. I remember being in elementary school heading into 5th grade when you could participate in the school music program. I told my parents I wanted to be in the music program and they supported my decision from day one. I had to choose an instrument to start with, and my mom & dad encouraged me to pick something a little different from the normal choices. I listened, and went with Bassoon. I was the only student playing that instrument and every day at home and days at school during music class, I was practicing to get better at it. To my parents and music teacher’s surprise, I was excelling at playing the Bassoon extremely fast without the assistance of an instructor. That’s when they figured out that I had a naturally God-given ability in music, and wanted to come up with ways to support me and all my endeavors. I entered middle school still playing the Bassoon, but also picked up more instruments along the way. My music teacher then had me enter into the District and All-State competitions and I ended up winning first chair every year. By the time I got into high school I was not only competing and winning auditions in the District and State competitions on more than one instrument and in more than one music category, I was sitting first chair in the District Youth Orchestra and District/State Jazz Ensemble. This was in addition to performing in all the ensembles in my high school music program and traveling being a student ambassador. I was doing so well, that by the time I got into the eleventh grade of high school, I had earned eleven full-music scholarships to colleges across the country. That year was when I new for sure I wanted to go study music, and pursue a creative career in the music business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a Music Producer, professional musician, and Music Educator, I wear a lot of hats. As a Music Producer, I work with a handful of Multi-Platinum and GRAMMY Award-Winning songwriters, Artists, Record Labels, and executives within the Music Industry. My primary role as a Music Producer is to provide quality music to fit the needs of everyone who’s looking for a particular type of music for an Artist project or other type of brief. As a professional musician, I tour and do shows performing on one of my instruments with Independent and GRAMMY Award-Winning Artist. As a Music Educator, I work with an organization/company providing clients of all ages direct instruction in all things music. Everything from learning how to play instruments to learning how to play their favorite songs to music theory, you name it. For me, I am most proud and excited about the successes that have come from the work that I have done in my career so far. It lets me know that what I am doing is paying off and that these successes will lead to other future opportunities. How I got to where I am today professionally is a direct result of the hard work that I have been putting in to my career since grade school and the consistency, sacrifice, discipline, dedication, and desire to succeed in something that has been a childhood dream of mine. Of course it was not easy and even today, there are challenges. My ability to be resilient and persevere through most all situations is how I have overcome the challenges. A lot of lessons that I have learned along the way revolve around being patient, staying focused, continuing to nurture your relationships because those relationships help you progress forward or to the next level, and treating everyone with respect for both business and personal. I think my ability to connect with my peers and other individuals in a way that adds value and feels more personable is something that I do well which in a way sets me apart from others. I always have been a team player or have built my relationships where they are definitely mutually beneficial, and I think that has contributed to my longevity. I think what I would like the world to know about me is that I am a true testament that when you dream big and utilize your naturally God-given talents and gifts, you can achieve a truly blessed life that not only can have a direct impact on you but also others.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I would say one of my favorite spots in the city would be Atlantic Station in downtown Atlanta. It has a variety of amenities that range from shopping and retail to entertainment. The restaurants there offer a broad spectrum of choices to eat and drink. Then, there are different sections within Atlantic Station that host various live shows and attractions in addition to having a movie theatre as well. The atmosphere is always great no matter what day of the week you go and especially on days with great weather, there is always a large turn out of people and events that take place. So, I would definitely take a friend to experience all that Atlantic Station has to offer because it is a place that accommodates most everything and if that friend was visiting for about a week, there’s so much at Atlantic Station, you would need a few days to do everything.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
For me, there are many people and organizations that deserve a shoutout who have supported me in every aspect of my career and life, My parents for starters, who from day one when I was 8 years old, saw the gift in me and supported my interests and endeavors from childhood through adulthood, and have never stopped. My music educators, from elementary school all the way through to my professors in college, who also saw the gift and did everything possible to teach and help me grow in music. As a professional music producer and professional musician, every successful producer or creator who I have had the chance to meet and work with in real life.. The Recording Academy/GRAMMYs organization. When I became a member of the GRAMMYs, I grew even more as a music producer in my career with the help of other like-minded peers and successful working professionals through professional development and real life interactions.
