We had the good fortune of connecting with Katelyn Martino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katelyn, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
When I first started working in this career field, I was a single woman working for the school system. My days were relatively short with minimal other responsibilities. 6 years later, I am married and have a 2.5 month old baby. Work-life balance has certainly taken a shift! I have chosen to always prioritize my family’s needs, but also treat my business with scheduled priorities day by day. I create a schedule for myself to get work priorities done and make sure to be available for my personal and family time. We have a rule in our house : no work talk after 8 pm!

What should our readers know about your business?
Simplicity is a small, family focused private practice. I feel our approach toward connection with the whole family sets us apart. We know your name and greet you with a warm welcome when you come through the door. We care about continuing that relationship throughout your time with us.

I am most proud of our growth this past year. We were able to hire 3 amazing employees and really started building our reputation in the north Georgia area. We worked hard and put a lot of focus into building the dream team.

Getting to this point took many hours of hard work and dedication. Overcoming challenges took lots of praying, focus on the end goal and support from others. We couldn’t have done this alone.

Our brand is to make sure that your experience is as “simple” as possible from the moment you pick up the phone to schedule an evaluation to the proud day your child graduates from therapy. Your child will be well taken care of by our highly certified and talented therapists who will make your experience as simple as possible through easy to understand steps toward success and a detailed parent-friendly explanation of how we can help your child.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Downtown Canton is a fast growing, quaint town! A fun weekend would definitely include a coffee and breakfast at Bizarre Coffee, lunch at the Mill, and maybe a show on the green after a drink at Reformation brewery! We can’t forget dessert at a Cone to Pick while sitting in the park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to thank my family (husband, parents, in-laws, sister) for always supporting me even when there were times of uncertainty or hardship for believing in my dream and encouraging me to pursue it. I also give credit to Amy P and Meredith A two of my supervisors in my early SLP days for teaching me. I thank my former employer, Heather J, for her support and advice in this journey.
