Meet Maurice Costello | Clothing Brand & Music Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maurice Costello and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maurice, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process was long, I knew that I wanted to start a business that was unique and not so repetitive. I always knew I wanted my own look, my own brand, so I took the time to think of different designs not only I would wear but would grab the attention of others when they say it. I took the time to really get every detail and every sketch right until I found the perfect design. The first design came out and I ran with it and the process of coming up with different designs after that was easy.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
There is a lot of duplication and a lot of things that gets repeated, I tried to set myself apart from others with not only coming up with a brand but giving multiple designs and options within that brand to give those who support a variety of different classic designs. The road to get to where I am now was not easy, there were days where I did not feel I was getting anywhere or people wasn’t noticing what I was doing, and then there were days where I wanted to give up. I went through every emotion to get to where I am now and I am glad I didn’t quit, I just kept going kept spreading the word, and having the people who supported me spread the word and it definitely paid off. I took a couple of lessons from this journey and of course there will be more to come but the main one is to never give up, everything takes time and if you are consistent and dedicated you will reach the top.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are plenty of places here in the state of Georgia, as far as food there’s black owned businesses such as Big Daves Cheese Steaks, Mikkeys, and Mr Fries Man that are places I would definitely take them to check out because its just a different vibe and something different. The hang out scene there’s a endless list but some of my favorites would have to be The Rooftop at Ponce, Round 1 in Cumberland mall, and Slingshot Social Game Club again its just something you have to experience to understand. The amount of fun you can have at all of these places will exceed what you think it might be and there are a lot more places but these are just a few of my top places.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are plenty of people that supported me along this journey but of course I would have to start with my mom she was the one who got me started with everything I needed and pushed me to get it done and to get what I created out into the world. Next really is just all of my friends who stayed rocking with me since day one who continued to show support, who helped spread the word of what I was trying to do and really get noticed, they know who they are.
