We had the good fortune of connecting with Tammy Griffith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tammy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Whenever I am asked this question, I always say this time & time again but all the events which lead up to me starting my business, are what I truly believe to be divine alignment, God’s Plan!
Born & raised on the beautiful island of Barbados, I can honestly tell you I always knew I wanted to be my own boss. Did I know it would be this soon? haha not really but again, divine alignment. Funny enough, my design journey, actually started way before I even realized it, through secondary school, college, and university I was always someone who paid attention to the finer details, from as little as my word document or PowerPoint slide needing to be a certain way, choosing colors & the fonts had to align, everything needed to flow even from those days.
Fast forward to 2020, fresh out of university, in the midst of the Pandemic, I started Flawlessly Detailed (FD). Things were going haywire in the world, but I knew starting Flawlessly Detailed (FD) was what I needed to do. With little to no knowledge at the time; I took some advice from one of my favorite brands to “Just Do It” & so I did. I started Flawlessly Detailed; a heart full of passion, determination & drive! I actually owe a lot to my sister, Kanesha, because it was also really her that pushed me to get started; she was my first client & continues to be a pillar within FD who I am eternally grateful for!
Over the past two years, I invested quite a lot into building FD; from continuous education, practice, timeless research, building genuine connections, trial & error periods, all so I can continue to strive to be the best version of myself to show up for my dear clients who trust in me!
My mission behind starting Flawlessly Detailed has always been to help women build brands they are confident in, brands that they can stand behind and are proud to call their own. With my background in hospitality management, I apply meticulous attention to detail plus ensure I am listening to the visions they have set out to reach. My ultimate goal is to design and create brands that are flawlessly unique so that these ladies can show up for themselves, their target audiences and mold their brands beyond limits than they have imagined.
With FD there’s so much more I have set out to achieve & learn but I’m extremely proud of how much I’ve executed so far, not only have I built this business from SCRATCH, but to know that I have been able to help so many women & brands excel & show up flawlessly has been such a reward & I am excited to continue evolving and knocking out the goals I have set out for FD!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
With the services I offer, I aim to deliver an overall client experience. I’m not just designing a logo or brand collateral, I am genuinely invested in the brands I work with, I want them to feel comfortable and confident in the entire process. If I am being completely honest, there are certain things in my design career that I just had to go through to get to where I am at today. A lot of the habits and processes I have implemented I simply had to experience. Everything that has happened in my business good or bad, and every client I have interacted with I take note of. I always keep an open mind, I love to keep learning because I see it as a way to go back to the drawing board to see how I can continuously improve the way my business operates and serves clients.
Truthfully speaking, I don’t think there is one thing I can single out being proud of alone. I am proud of the fact that I had the courage to start my business in the first place because building a business of any kind is tedious, it takes a certain mindset, drive, and commitment. I believe finding your groove of what works and sticking to it, tweaking it every now and then as you grow helps a lot. I live by the saying “what’s for you will always be for you” and this applies to anything in life or business. Learning to appreciate your journey, your process, and keeping a tunnel vision on what YOU set out to do is extremely important. Even more important, is to always be kind to yourself, because yes there is way more to accomplish but cheers to you for coming this far!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In the city, I’m always down to explore and sightsee! So many delicious food stops and my all-time favorite is North Italia Restaurant. The views from the Ferris wheel in downtown Atlanta are top tier so that’s a must, and of course, the Selfie Museum because we can never have too many fun photo memories! Nothing can beat some good retail therapy at the Mall of Georgia and we’re definitely stopping by The Yard Milkshake Bar for some good dessert!
Now if we’re on island time in Barbados we’re doing an island tour! The island is filled with so much culinary talent, so we’ll make it fun and restaurant-hop! Breakfast at Bliss Cafe, can’t miss out on a Just Grillin Chicken Caesar Wrap for lunch, & some fine dining at the Tides Restaurant to name a few! An island safari is also gonna pop in there as well as a sunset Catamaran Boat Ride.
We’re definitely throwing some beach days in there as you can’t visit Barbados and not be mesmerized by the Crystal Clear waters to wind down.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh yes! Definitely my support system; my significant other, my sister, my closest friends who are like family & of course my awesome design & creative community. These individuals collectively inspire, uplift & encourage me so much. I could not sum up the words to express how grateful I am for them!
