We had the good fortune of connecting with Ty’ Heim Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ty’ Heim, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor to the success of my brand is that I never forgot to include the one that made it all possible. See the truth is, I never thought about helping Early Childhood Leaders around the world to become better leaders much less birthing a brand. God gave me the business in a dream and when I got up, I took action. He has provided for me every step of the way. Be it a client recommending a service I should offer, interviews, guest on podcast etc. It was all him giving me everything I needed to carry out the plan he already made for me. He is the crucial factor to it all.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It started when I was younger working in South Carolina in my mother’s childcare center. She converted our two-car garage into a childcare center. My mother was in a challenging marriage and to help out I would work in the center while she took a break. I was 11 years old taking care of children while really just a child myself. This is where the passion was sparked. I told my mom I wanted to either be a teacher or a judge and she told me I would be too bias for a judge so I went to college and majored in Early Childhood Education. What most people don’t know is that originally, my major was Elementary Education because I knew I wanted to teach and I felt that Early Childhood wouldn’t allow me to do so (I was wrong). My college dropped that major and the only major my credits would transfer over to without basically starting over was Early Childhood Education. In 2016, I moved to Atlanta, GA to help my mother to and from her doctors’ appointments. While here I got a job as a Private Pre-K Teacher at Carol’s Daughter Learning Center (where my professional independent career began). This was my first-time experiencing hatred for simply being a male in the field. I recall the owner losing teachers and parents but she didn’t lose her faith in me. She later told me that she believed in what she knew I could bring to her organization. I stayed with CDLC from 2016-2018. I went from Private Pre-k Teacher to Assistant Director then Director. In 2018 I went to work in corporate childcare and that is where I really learned the business behind the business and the life skills to prepare me for this moment. While working in corporate I became homeless. Literally everything I owned was outside in my car. I remember being the closing Director and ironing my clothes for the next day at the center after everyone left. I would lay them in my backseat underneath my suitcase so they wouldn’t wrinkle again. I remember the cold nights and hunting for some place safe to sleep. The hardest part was going to work and being strong for my students, team members, and parents while needing help myself.
I was terminated from corporate for something I felt I handled the best way I could at the moment (autobiography coming soon). Even with this being the case, when they terminated me the only thing, I said was thank you. I went back to private childcare and after transforming an entire center completely, it was like pulling teeth to get the raise promised to me so I resigned. After resigning I went to work for the center that helped me birth it all, Crème’ De La Crème’. The day I was supposed to start was the day the world shut down due to COVID. So here I am again in a trying state, bills but no job! It took months to get unemployment and the bills kept coming! All of it became overwhelming and I tried to kill myself. It was that very night that God gave me my then business name and an idea for services in a dream. I started with Crème in November of 2020 as their Director of Curriculum. I would record myself doing my day-to-day duties and my audience grew! In May of 2021 I resigned to be a full-time entrepreneur and God has been placing me in the right rooms and on the minds of the right people ever since.
My story is an important part of my journey because when I look back at it now, I realize how important it is to trust the process and to watch how you respond to the process. Everything that I have experienced prepared me for who it was soon to become, The Childcare Whisperer. The Childcare Whisperer is a safe place for early childhood education leaders to learn and grow. I build them up and educate them because I understand that sometimes that smile rendered at the center may be their only place to smile. I instill in them the skills that helped become a great Director despite of. I do this through my workshops, empowerment sessions, accountability group, mentorship program and so much more.
The molestation, terminated, homelessness, and loneliness were all necessary so that I could reap in joy. I tell everyone to hold on and when you make it out don’t forget the way maker.
I’m excited that God has allowed me to publish two books the third to be released in December 2022 and my leadership institute will launch in 2023. It didn’t always feel good and even now I’ve lost family members and some friends but the great thing about me making it through is that I now know that whatever God is allowing is working for my good. If I could leave one thing, I would tell you like my grandmother told me years ago, it’s okay to give out but don’t you EVER give up!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my bestfriend to Rick Ross’s house, Atlanta Fish Market, The Belt Line, Piedmont Park, 10th & Piedmont, Atlantic Station just to name a view!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would to give a shoutout to Dearick Milton and Eugia Cannon.
