We had the good fortune of connecting with J Weeks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi J, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
The Weeks Motto. Which is 3 simple things: -Everything you do, do it with excellence. -If they push we push harder. -Always keep it moving forward It means so much to me. It has been a daily affirmation for me and my siblings since I was a teenager. It’s a constant reminder to always do my best and never back down from a challenge. It also gives me hope when I face adversity and don’t know what my next move is. This mantra is so important that I have even incorporated it into my children’s lives.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Hard work! Everything that I have received as it relates to my career has been through putting in the time and effort. So people are given opportunities, so people are just in the right place at the right time & others create their own. I had to be the later and create those opportunities for myself. It hasn’t always been easy but nothing worth having really is. It doesn’t always mean that everyday will be bad but it just allows you to appreciate when things are good for you so much more. Through the years one of the biggest lessons that Ive learned is that you must always do what is best for you because everyone else will do what they deem as best for them. Which can sometimes mean that people won’t always see things your way simply based on their perspective on life. But at the end of the day you have to be ok with sticking to your truth & knowing that you won’t be able to make everyone happy and that’s ok. J Weeks Entertainment was started for two simply reasons. To give people opportunities that they wouldn’t normally have and to help inspire people to pursue their dreams in what capacity they could. It is not a traditional company were we are all about just entertaining you but we want to leave a impact on you when you see anything with the name “J Weeks Entertainment.”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well not being from Atlanta and living here is great because you learn to appreciate it more. It’s like people growing up near the beach. You really aren’t that impressed by it because you’ve been around it your whole life. But the best thing about being in Atlanta is that there is something here for everybody, no matter for your vice is. This is truly the land of opportunity. So or course if you’re into sport you have your baseball, football & soccer here. But the biggest things in Atlanta are food and entertainment. That being said I’d would take them to one of the numerous wings spots, checkout one of these famous day parties and most definitely end the night with the club scene but I must be in the VIP section.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother Renee Weeks was the one that created this affirmation and made sure that my sisters and I knew what it truly meant. Everyone has traditions or things that they want to past down to the next generation and this affirmation is what my mother chose for us. It was because of her dedication to making sure we understood the power that we had within us that we were all able to pursue our dreams. Having that constant reminder to do our best and keep striving was a huge motivating factor in our lives. So thanks Ma Dukes for giving us something that we can cherish forever!
