We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremiah Jacksun and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeremiah, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
I am in control of my happiness, which makes me ecstatic. I discovered that my happiness does not lie in external factors, but rather a choice I make in each moment. I actively choose to be happy every day-it did not happen naturally. Even when times are tough, I can still maintain my joy and peace. This mindset has given me a great sense of freedom and joy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Let’s start with the wonderful ailment of growing up in a musical household. My parents exposed me to a variety of Motown songs, including those by Johnnie Taylor , Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson, just to name a few. So, it came as no surprise that I gravitated towards music. My inevitable road to notoriety and success can be traced back through bloodlines leading back to my grandfather, Carl Wright- popular for starring in several Hollywood films such as Soul Food, Barbershop, and Big Momma’s House. Currently, I am excited about my project titled Thinking Out Loud which is streaming on all platforms. This project is very personal with in-depth elements of my journey. Since the release of my album, I have been featured in several major publications and interviews such as VoyageATL, Digital Journal, Sirius XM Radio, Sway In The Morning and much more. The road to building myself up to this point has not been easy, the challenges of growing up in a disenfranchised community comes with constant contact of bad decisions, and at times environmental violence. Music became an outlet early on and provided me with the imagination to dream bigger. Those dreams provided a preview of possibilities, that it’s possible to create my own success and not allow my past to become today’s reality. My brand represents a can-do mentality. You can create your own accomplishments and not have to live up to anyone else’s idea of what success is.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ok, so the food places that I would take my friends out to are Slutty Vegan, Hippie Hibachi, Tassilis Raw Reality, anyplace plant-based to sum it up. Hangout spots for me that is a must-visit are Sky Lounge, Top Golf, The Battery, and The Roof Top at Ponce City Market. In addition to that, there is so much culture and entertainment in Atlanta, that having a great time wouldn’t be difficult to achieve.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First off, shout out to the Most High for placing my guys Keon Marcel and Tyrell Ware into my life. These two wise men have been a positive light throughout my childhood and present day. I am always grateful for your guidance. You’ve been instrumental in shaping me into who I am today. Thank you both for being truly exceptional leaders with amazing skills that I look up to.
