We had the good fortune of connecting with Cory Cash and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cory, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting the BLACK IS THE NEW RICH podcast was easy. During the pandemic as a videographer and photographer I didn’t have much work to do because we were stuck inside. It really forced me to reevaluate my career as a nude photographer going forward. When did George Floyd incident happened stuck a nerve that I couldn’t ignore any more. I remember the news so vividly that I feel like if I didn’t do anything I’d be guilty. No disrespect to anyone that went to go march for the Black Lives Matter protest I felt like I had to do something that would be more lasting, I decided to start a financial podcast for the community called BLACK IS THE NEW RICH because if we can control our economics we can control our politics. I also de myself as financially illiterate at the time so what better way to educate myself and interview people so everybody else can learn. That was the thought process behind starting my business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My current art is obviously the podcast and I believe what separates me from a lot of others specially in Canada is nobody’s talking about financial literacy the way that I’m presenting it in the city. I’m making it cool to be smart. Making it cool to fix your credit make it cool to have life insurance making it cool to own multiple properties. I love that for the community that anybody I interview their super approachable.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Good question so if I were to bring someone to Toronto for the first time the first place I would go that everyone knows is the CN Tower we go take a tour and eat at the top floor. I’d also let them experience our nightlife because they say Toronto has the best looking women in the world no bias Lol. Depending on the week if it’s during Caribana weekend which is a huge festival that comes once a year I definitely let them experience that that might change their life forever.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are lotta factors going into me doing what I’m doing now firstly I have to shot out my camera operator Damieon Scott for allowing me to use his house for a studio and controlling the cameras for a podcast because literally without him there would be no podcast. I believe mentorship is very important and in today’s day we can have online mentors they may not know us personally but we know them so some people I’d like to shout out that have taught me tremendously over the years would be Nipsey Hussle , Myron Golden
, the earn your leisure team, 19 keys Wall Street trapper, Jay Shetty and Jones. All these great individuals have taught me a lot and wherever I go I bring a piece of their teaching’s with me.
