Meet Gymani | Singer/Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gymani and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gymani, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to find a way to use my gift and take care of my children. When I realized my voice would be my way out I took it and ran with it

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My craft is my craft and that’s what make me different. I started singing at a very early age and at first didn’t like it very much because I didn’t really understand my potential. After realizing that singing was my purpose it grew on me instantly. I began to write, sing more and become confident in not what people wanted me to be but for who I was. In middle school, I developed a love for instruments and began playing the saxophone ( this is where my passion for production and BTS work evolved) as the years I still enjoyed music but began enhancing my other gifts as well. So I went on to the band, chorus, cross country team and even became a majorette dancer for my high school. After graduating, I wanted to take my singing craft more seriously so began performing at different nightclubs and open mics. Challenges like not finishing college or not being accepted into the one I wanted put me in a very weird headspace. I felt like I wasn’t good enough and then I had my first daughter. Raising her as a single parent was the toughest yet most rewarding experience because it taught me my value. As her mother she looked at me as her hero so I didn’t want to let her down. And I didn’t. After being seen at one of the open mic I receive a invitation to audition for The Voice and I took it. Shortly after auditioning and getting accepted I became pregnant with my second daughter and put that dream on hold in the beginning of 2020 to make sure I was there for her as well. After having her I reached back out to see if the invitation was still valid and as you can see rest is history. Now I’m working on my debut project, living a wonderful life with my significant other and our children, no life couldn’t be greater.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a indoor person so I love to have social events in my home but if I had to have a best friend visit I would take them to all the Atlanta attractions. From getting hot dogs to the nightlife. To even going to see the animals at the zoo. I would show them my city at its best.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would have to thank all those who have helped me along the way. Of course my mother and father for believing in me and my children for motivating me but also family who have helped me in both hood and hard times. I would like to also thank friends who always keep it real with me and also God. Could have never done it without him.
