We had the good fortune of connecting with Chanel Cooper and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chanel, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risks are a way of moving out of our comfort zone, psychologically, then taking action. I encourage healthy risks, of course, in the sense of taking a step today that will benefit your future, no matter how unpleasant or uncomfortable it might be. Because there is a possibility that things may not work out in our favor, we must remember that most of our growth happens from chance of failure, discovery, unpredictability and unexpected outcome. As a styling professional in the beauty industry, breaking out of my comfort zone includes networking with seasoned beauty pros, promoting my brand to strangers, performing services I haven’t mastered yet, and upselling and cross-selling to enhance the customer experience. These are some of the responsibilities of being an entrepreneur and I am continuing to put forth the effort of accomplishing these tasks each day. Risks will continuously open our minds to new experiences and only through experience do we truly grow. I love feeling like, at the end of the day, I let life happen with zero resistance and putting fear in the backseat.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Business-wise, things have always been bound to progress. I will say the one thing that kept me moving was persistence and faith. I made a decision as to which direction I wanted my business to go and the type of woman I wanted to be on that journey. I put it out in the universe and worked toward it each day until it all started coming back to me. The Law of Attraction is real, but this also goes back to being emotionally invested in your craft. You should be so invested that you are willing to do what it takes to drive your career to the next level. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, be kind to yourself, and exude confidence in your skills. It is not so much of what I want the world to know about me, but instead me wanting to continue to positively impact the world through beauty, care, and education. Because I care, I am conscientious about every move I make in the workplace and very intentional with each client experience. Everyday I am more and more proud!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love to take walks on the Atlanta Beltline and have dinner and drinks at the restaurants near the Studioplex. It all gives beachfront vibes in the middle of Atlanta, so that will definitely be our first go-to. Next, we’ll hit up Cinnaholic for dessert. These Are Hands down, the best cinnamon buns everrrrr!!! Not to mention they are PLANT-BASEDDDDD and BLACK-OWNED!!! For dinner, Gyu Kaku in Atlantic Station will be our next stop. All the food there is very flavorful and the customer service is exceptional. It’s also very interactive. Lastly, in no particular order, we’ll have some fun on the rooftop of Ponce City Market and take Birds around Piedmont Park. Considering these challenging times, most of our excursions will be held outdoors lol. We’ll go out for food and find ways to have fun in the house! Lol!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a shoutout to my entire Circuit Salon Team. They are, without fail, pushing me to become a better version of myself each day. The Circuit Salon has consistently worked to shape the company into a place of education, integrity, culture, ingenuity , positivity, mentorship, and teamwork. What more could I ask for? When I have people that pour into me like so, it makes me want to pour into others all that I’ve learned. I would also love to give recognition to my clients. We have grown over the years and expressed a very intentional bond through hair-care and friendship. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you.
