We had the good fortune of connecting with Maggie Schneider and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maggie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Honestly, I think taking risks in your career and life are important. I define a “risk” as putting yourself out there, or out of your comfort zone. I’m not talking about a stunt like cliff-diving or jumping out of an airplane, but more about taking everyday opportunities that present themselves. If you don’t try new things or take new opportunities, you are possibly missing out on something positive and life-changing. As a woman in the music industry, I am constantly taking risks in the pursuit of following my dreams. Whether that is reaching out to someone new in the industry, or sharing a new song with a sold-out crowd, I try and push myself to do things that are uncomfortable. If you don’t try, you never know what could happen. The results can be magical!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the singer/songwriter of the band glimmers. We’re a pop/rock band, and are super influenced by all different genres of music. I am so thankful for my bandmates and where we are now: we’re signed with Common Ground Collective, been featured on some awesome outlets and Spotify playlists, and have opened for some of my favorite bands. It was not easy to get to where we are now. I was a solo artist for 5 or 6 years, but always wanted to be in a band. After different failed projects and some negative experiences, I was afraid to jump back into anything with other people. I have always loved to collaborate, but it was hard to find musicians and friends who I connected with personally and creatively. Then, over a year ago, the finalized lineup of glimmers fell into place. I’ve been so happy ever since. I want the world to know that we hope to spread positivity and love with our band! With glimmers, we hope to bring people happiness with our music, and hopefully make a difference in people’s lives.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, we would go to BoruBoru Sushi in Sandy Springs. That is my favorite restaurant ever, and I always order a sushi burrito. We would hang out at The Masquerade and see a show, and I’d definitely finish the night with some Cafe Intermezzo. Walking around Midtown Atlanta in the evening always makes me happy, especially when I’m taking in a view of the skyline.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my mom, Stephanie Schneider. She has been my rock and best friend since I was born, giving me the confidence and encouragement to follow all of my dreams! I wouldn’t have the courage to be in the music industry if it wasn’t for her.
