We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Boa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christopher, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We Created Fatbol Clothing to bring exposure to the Music, Art, and Culture of the Humboldt County Community. Our mission is to bring this culture of talented underground creatives beyond the Redwood Curtain and to the greater global community. We do this through our artists series where we highlight our visual artists through custom printed clothing and accessories. We also sponsor and support musicians, rappers, Dj’s, bands and other talents and help them to monetize their merchandise through drop shipping and affiliate programs.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are musicians and Entrepreneurs. Nothing worth doing comes easy. However we are so fueled by our passion that the labor is love. The most difficult thing seems to be time management and maintaining daily discipline. The road to success is filled with small failures, but it is in overcoming these small obstacles that lead to greater success. Our brand represents our passions. It represents our uncompromising attitude toward our art and the mutual support of other artists. Only in lifting each other up do we reach the pinnacle of our own elevation. We are Artists supporting Artists.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Here in Humboldt one of then first destinations would be the beach. Our beaches our some of the most grand, majestic vistas of coastline in the world. Redwood and juniper trees slowly marching down to the Pacific with beaches littered with giant boulders and islets mottled with trees and shrubs. Redtail Hawks, Pelicans Ibis and gulls dance on the winds looking for dining opportunities. Moonstone Grille provides an excellent sunset view above the dunes and offers some of the best cocktails and seafood in the region.

A trip to Prairie Creek National Park is also a must as it contains some of the oldest and tallest redwoods in the world. A day long hike takes you to fern canyon which seems right out of the Jurassic Past. In fact some parts of Jurassic Park were actually filmed here.

No Trip to Humboldt is complete without a trip to the Trinity River where we will just on kayaks and innertubes and float down this legendary River. Clearly the entire trip will be supported by the best that the local Cannabis farms have to offer.

At night there is a surprising amount of music for such a small town. with multiple clubs of various sizes it easy to find good local funk, hip hop and reggae, as well as a regular rotation of national touring acts. The overall community at large is extremely warm and welcoming creating the perfect vibe to dance your troubles away.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Brian Swislow and Christopher Boa, Owners of Fatbol Clothing would like to first shoutout all the OG Growers and Cannabis Purveyors in Humboldt. Our music, our company, our whole vibe is predicated on the love and support this community created over the many decades we have spent in the Redwoods. All of our Musical Family from Humboldt to the Bay to New Orleans and NY. Mentors Like Chali 2NA, Dj Logic, Lettuce, Vinyl, Monophics, The Project Blowed Crew especially Myka 9, Medusa, and Dj Drez, and all the festivals and crews we have collaborated with over the years.
