We had the good fortune of connecting with Chukwebuka Nwafor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chukwebuka, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
A habit that has helped me greatly is consistency. Consistency leads to greatness. I had to stay consistent with growing the business daily. This has lead to my business growth.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is called Buka’s Apparel. It was founded in the year 2020. The formation of the business was influenced by the story of my life and how I have had to overcome a lot of adversity being an immigrant from Nigeria. The brand named “Buka” encourages individuals to step into their greatness by outlasting whatever trials life has to throw at the person. Buka is an Igbo word that means great, and this is what the brand strives to exemplify through our clothing. I am most proud of the growth of the brand and how much impact it has had on the AUC so far. Also, a portion of our proceeds goes to the less privileged Nigeria. We are proud of the fact that we can touch lives through our brand.

Getting into business wasn’t easy. I had to go through many hurdles. The beginning of every business is always the hardest. I had to learn how to properly bring together all the factors of production to make sure the business ran smoothly. At the start, I had to do everything by myself. I had to learn how to divide labor among people to help things move faster and help the brand grow. So far, the brand has become a household name in the AUC. We would love to grow the brand to be a worldwide brand.

I want the world to know that the brand “Buka” exemplifies greatness and it should be worn by everyone. Buka is not only a brand, Buka is a lifestyle. Be Great! Be Buka! Step into your greatness.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend was in the city and I had to show them around, I would make sure I take them to these places.

A tour of Downtown Atlanta, World of Coca-cola, Centennial Olympic Park, the Aquarium, and Sky view. Ponce City Market, Atlantic Station, the battery, State Farm Arena to watch the hawks play. I would also take them to some clubs and lounges like VODS, Ace, Living Room, Grand Lekki Cafe, and Eden. I would hit up some food places like Ike’s, Rocksteady, Negril, Toyins and Breakfast at Barneys. I would also take them to Spaceman and the independent tavern.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Firstly, I would love to dedicate this to God Almighty for all he has done for me. I would love to dedicate this shoutout to my mentor Mr. Sofola who always pushes me to be the best in my entrepreneurial journey. I also want to dedicate this to my guardian, Mr. Wesley Graves for being a father to me and being there for me when I need him. Lastly, I want to give a shoutout to my Family in Nigeria for paving the way for me to be where I am today.
