We had the good fortune of connecting with Duaa Siddiqui and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Duaa, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I belong to a Muslim family, residing in Karachi,Pakistan. Mostly people around belong to a bit conservative mindset but I am blessed with such set of parents that they have always been there to support me and my other siblings too. There have been times that due to societal pressure my family tried to restrict us too but I knew what I wanted in life and how I am mature enough to know what is right and wrong for me. I made sure to stand firm on all my decisions even if they would not turn out the way I planned them. I think it is important to always own your decisions!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I run a business of gift baskets which I started during Covid-19. I started it on November 2020 as I was going through the most darkest phase of my life and I thought maybe doing this would help me in feeling better. When I started it, I was not sure if this would last even for few months but now after 1.5 years, I am glad that I took that decision. My business did not only help me in getting out of the darkest phase and with my finances but it also brings me happiness and satisfaction as when people receive the gifts sent from the name of their loved ones, the smile on their face says it all. Whenever I see that smile, I know it was worth it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I just love my city Karachi as it is literally one of the most energetic and lively city! I would take my friend to a place called Do Darya as it is along the Arabian sea coastline with restaurants built over it. The views are amazing and so is the weather with the most delicious food.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well I believe whatever you achieve in your life is firstly only because of your will and dedication. After that the credit surely goes to my parents who helped me with my initial finance and kept their trust on me. Their trust on me actually motivated me to pursue more in this business. I would also like to give credit to my fiancé for helping me out with finances and encouraging me like no one else.
