We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayden Braddock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jayden, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Being diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome in Elementary, It was always hard for me in school. Because of this, I always leaned on my creativity to get through life and my interpretation of it. I would always daydream about The Looney Tunes Show ,and the latest movie I saw in the theatre, while in class and that lead to me making my own original stories in high school, Which eventually led to my debut Highly anticipated book, Dear Freedom Writer, where I tell my story of being diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from most people like me is I am not just experienced in one creative field. I am experienced in many creative mediums from Acting, Writing, Music Production, Painting, Videography, and many more. I started taking my art seriously near the end of my high school career. I have spent many night improving my writing and music production craft. I work best at night time, especially after going on a late night drive around town seeing the city lights.

My first self published poem book, The Fun and Happy Depression, is available on Amazon and all major e-book sellers. I continue to write and publish short stories and poems to this very day.

As for Dear Freedom Writer, it will be my biggest accomplishment to date. The book will release worldwide on March 29, 2022 by the biggest book publisher in the United States, Penguin Random House. It can be found in all major book selling stores for $17.99.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definite have to take them to the Lenox Mall. I remember visiting Atlanta in 2016 with my dad and we went to the Lenox mall to shop for the day. It was easily one of the best memories of my life. In general, I would also take them to any movie theatre to watch a movie for inspiration. To me, there is nothing better than watching a new film a Friday night then driving around town at 8 Pm while listening to music to get the inspiration.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I would like to shoutout all the students that I worked with when creating the anticipated book to the NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The Freedom Writers Diary (which is the inspiration for the 2007 film starring Hilary Swank), Dear Freedom Writer. The book comprises of 50 students and their stories of struggle and heartbreak. I was one of these students. Besides being a student author, I am also the student author ambassador. That means I helped the students with anything they needed, whether it be helping them with their story for the book, homework, or just to be someone to talk to about their day. It is an honor to know the students and to call them family. I am like a big brother to them and they are all like my little siblings. I continue to talk to them to this very day.
