Meet Kweeng Doll | Musician/ entertainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kweeng Doll and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kweeng, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is to be consistent and authentic. Stay true to yourself and your brand never change for anyone or anything. Not everyone is going to love you or support you but the ones that do will support and love you 100 times more. When you are consistent find out so many things about yourself and your brand. You will evolve ofer time and out do everything you did the year before. I look at my career year-by-year. That’s how I measure growth and see what areas need to be worked on more than others.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a musician specializes in hip-hop/rap. I have very combative rhymes and rhythmic beats. I am a non-binary artist hailing from Boston, Massachusetts. Some things that I’m proud about our that I was the first rapper to win the NPR tiny desk competition, I also was on the OUT100 out magazines top performer of 2021 and groundbreaking artist of the year of 2021. I definitely have open Mini Mini doors for other artists like myself who apart of the LGBTQIA+ plus community. I’m super excited to see where my career take me in the next two years it definitely has been a great experience. I’m ready to break more boundaries and open more doors. I started off as being an entertainer since I was a child, That has helped shape me into the professional a.m. today I also attended performance high school from music and get a couple programs at Berklee College of music as well. This is why I consider myself a musician and not just a rapper because I can read music right music play music on instruments sing vocally, I don’t like to limit myself. I definitely had to work super hard being in the hip-hop industry is very hard when you’re in a hyper masculinity genre of music. I am FMC who happens to be a part of the queer community so sometimes we are looked down upon or not praise enough for the work that we do or the tower itself. So you definitely have to push very hard but I am happy that I have done so much and people are recognizing who I am and what I’ve been doing in the community. I remember when I first started doing music full-time producers didn’t wanna work with me and I had to just find my way through and find a person that would. To this day I commend Jon Glass Who is one of my producers and engineers who never turned me away no matter what. He didn’t judge me for my sexual orientation on my ginger I did it he works for me because I have talent and he saw the bigger picture and we still work together to this day. I have learned that this industry can be very cruel people well sell you a dream that they can’t even live up to. No one is your friend and you have to move about accordingly. I have also learned that you will run into some great people in this industry just stay consistent and be true to yourself. I want the world to know that every song that I write and sing or rap it’s coming from a place of experience. I don’t write music based off of false dreams or experiences. I am a very what you see is what you get kind of artist. I definitely want people to listen to my lyrics although I know that the beats can be very hypnotizing. I really do address a lot of things that are happening in my life in a very lyrical way, but please listen to the actual lyrics so you can hear my story!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take my best friend to believe music hall because it’s such an experience , before I moved to Atlanta I was performing there, for me it’s just like one of my first places that I ever performed at in atl. I think it’s a great place to show. I also enjoy Atlantic station there’s so much to do. I love to get a little Turnt up so I would take my best friend to Harold’s chicken and ice bar! The chicken is to die for and the drinks are definitely great. As I am learning Atlanta I would definitely be able to broaden my places to go within the next few months.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give me a shout out to my manager Edward! He has been my manager since I was 15 years old! Every career I’ve ever been into he has managed me. He works nonstop no matter what’s going on in his life or mine. We also have the best bond inside of business and outside. He definitely cares about me and my career as much as he does his own. I could have not chosen a better manager. We have literally work from the bottom up and we still have a lot of work to do. I want him to know that his work never goes unnoticed and it’s very appreciated.
