We had the good fortune of connecting with Tonya Stokes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tonya, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from Montgomery, AL. I served 22 years in the Army and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel . My parents instilled in me since the age of 5 years old that I was a leader and not a follower.Today I still live by this, I was a leader in the Army and now with my business today I have a take charge attitude as I take my business to different levels.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Sign Greeters of Fairburn creates yard art to help you celebrate your special day in an unforgettable way. Whether it’s a birthday, graduation, baby shower, bar/bat mitzvah, anniversary, or any other celebration, Sign Greeters of Fairburn has big, lovable lawn signs that are sure to make everyone smile! What sets me apart from others, my client have full access to me from the beginning of the process to the end and afterward.I get to know my clients in a short time to ensure the yard design meet their expectations and I see a smile on their face.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit for a week we would have a blast. The first thing I would do as her personal Sign Greeter is put a huge yard greeting out welcoming her to ATL. Then we would first eat at Toast on Lenox, later that evening we would go and listen to some good live music at the Studio Cigar Lounge. The next day we would hike up Stone Mountain and afterward enjoy lunch at Slutty Vegan.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Al and son AJ are my biggest supporters.My husband pushes me to my full potential daily. My son keeps me motivated because I work so hard for him. I want to be the example for him, he get to witness the fruit of my labor, work hard and watch it pay off.
