We had the good fortune of connecting with Sadjr Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sadjr, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Staying true to my authentic self. Beauty is one of the most saturated industries, and it’s incredibly easy to lose yourself in what’s popular in the moment. It’s important for me to stay true to myself, my style and approach to makeup. It gives my ideal client the confidence to sit in my chair and know there’s a space for their true expression too.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My love affair with makeup and beauty dates back farther than I can even remember! I’ve spent countless hours over the years studying products, different techniques and various artists who came before me and created the industry we all see today. I’ve always been a bit of a “fan girl”, but I didn’t have the courage to take a chance on myself and pursue a career in makeup until I found myself sitting at home, March 2020 – in the middle of a pandemic, wondering what the hell should be next.

Fast forward to February 2021, I received my certification from Industry Makeup Academy and started my career as a professional makeup artist. I like to tell people my signature style is fresh, skin focused with a pop of color. I truly believe that individual features should be celebrated. Makeup should never be “one size fits all”.

My career is just beginning, but this past year was filled with some of the best moments of my life. I’m so excited to see where I go and what I accomplish moving forward. I know it’s not going to be easy, and it’s very much a slow burn at times, but that is one of the most beautiful things about makeup artistry. There are so many avenues to explore, and the industry is forever evolving. The possibilities are truly endless.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is dedicated to my loved ones for showing me grace, compassion and ultimately giving me the confidence to step into my purpose. My successes will always be yours too. ❤️
