We had the good fortune of connecting with Paige Fluker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paige, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As an ambitious woman, I personally saw and felt how boss women can lean so far into their masculine that our femininity is lost in the shuffle. Women need their feminine, it’s what makes us thrive despite what society may tell us. Women bring a unique perspective and emotional intelligence to business, and I love to help women claim their power and show up authentically as business and career women.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I spent over 10 years in the Army, a completely masculine and controlled environment. I worked mostly with men and learned so much about how men succeed and operate in business and stressful situations. With that, I adopted a lot of masculine characteristics to survive and also succeed. I obtained the experience and credentials, but it wasn’t until years after the military, where I found my authentic self as a successful woman. I realized that doing it the way society tells you to may bring a woman success, but maintaining that image will also exhaust you and cost a woman her femininity. Being a modern woman who has earned her place in the business or career world often requires a lot of bravery and resilience to go after your desires without losing your sense of self. I’ve been there and that’s why I love to help women own or reclaim their power so they can continue to go after their dreams.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of the first places we’d go to is the spa! I love Jeju Spa and could spend 8 hours there if I had it, lol. Busy, modern women need balance and relaxation so a spa day is a must. Next on the list would be sitting down for some good food. I’m originally from the DMV, so seafood is in my DNA. Fatboiz restaurant in McDonough is an awesome place to pop in for bomb drinks and yummy crab fries. Lastly, I’d go on a walking tour in Atlanta. The culture here is so rich and exciting. There’s always something to see and do and that’s what I love about living here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As an avid reader and lifelong learner, I’ve been inspired by so much along the way. But I’m eternally grateful for the beautiful founder of Black Women Healing Retreats. Satya created a space for exhausted women to heal and when I embarked upon that experience, is when my soul opened up and I reclaimed my own power. That experience was instrumental to my continued self-discovery and desire to help other women own their power too.
