Meet James Israel (DJ J Blacc) | DJ/Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with James Israel (DJ J Blacc) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi James, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important success factor behind the success I’ve obtained would have to be networking and taking risk that I thought was impossible to accomplish. Over the last year after making the decision to leave my job, I’ve been able to work with celebrity artists as being a full time DJ and built relationships with key holders in the music industry. Throughout this year I’ve also help grow the brand “OnDemand DJs” as one of the top DJ coalitions in South Carolina.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a professional DJ what makes me excited the most is being able to play a big role in the music industry for independent artist that may not have ever had the chance to be heard before. It gives me a feeling of satisfaction knowing that I helped someone that other people may have overlooked. Before I was a DJ I started off as a part promoter as a teenager for local parties in the city. Once I entered Wilson High School as a freshman I joined the marching band, and I met DJ J Watts. He was one of the local DJ’s and I was interested in learning how to become a DJ after seeing him perform at teen parties. I was under his apprenticeship until I went to college and I began making a name for myself as a college DJ. At the time I didn’t know anything about the business aspect of being a DJ and that’s where I ran into challenges. I I learned that it takes a team to accomplish multiple goals and being able to say “no” to certain opportunities that maybe presented and outweighing my options. The main thing I want people to know about me is that I come from a small town in South Carolina where a lot of people I think it’s impossible to accomplish dreams far than the mind can see, and if I can do it anyone in this entire world can do the same if not more. Always remember “the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward”.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were to come visit Columbia, South Carolina I would first take them “California Dream” for lunch or dinner, they have the best steaks hands down and the drinks are amazing. The scenery inside is very boat like feel with a splash of elegance to give the classy atmosphere. If their feeling the nature vibe afterwards we would visit the Riverbank Zoo to see the animals and safari scenery. For the night life scene I would highly recommend Legacy Caribbean Bar & Grill they have a huge turnout every weekend with all good vibes, and delicious Caribbean food.

I would like to give a huge shoutout to DJ Montana Ali for helping me get in position to further my career as a DJ and our entire OnDemand DJs team. I also would like to shoutout my big brother DJ Phenom, GShytt, Douglas Boy The Engineer, and DJ J Watts.
