We had the good fortune of connecting with Yasmin S Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yasmin S, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business was a way for me to help women of all ages become leaders after trauma through personal growth and self-expression.

What should our readers know about your business?

Yiry-Elements is an organization striving to build hope, faith, love, and leadership through creative support and innovative vehicles encouraging the spirit one element at a time. Yiry-Elements unyoke personal growth and self-expression through literacy and clothing.

What sets me apart from other organizations is my passion to help others break barriers in their personal life, community, and business. I am proud of how many people I touched with the work I do.

I climb to where I am today by getting comfortable with being uncomfortable. It was not easy. There were lots of tears and sleepless nights to become my authentic self in business. The challenges I faced were personal, so I had to face the problem, share the issue, and break the barrier.

The lesson I have learned in business is if you don’t believe in yourself/product no one else will. I want the world to know I am in business to build bridges to develop relationships to motivate others to succeed personally, in their community, and in business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friend to Rebel and Roost for dinner/drinks, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, a boat ride on the Gateway Clipper, and to end the trip a concert in the park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to recognize so many people supporting me in my journey. The main supporters in my success are my children (Yarra Darwin, Ronasae Upsher, Irie Mack), sister (Tamica Belton), mother (Harriett Brown), father (Harold Phelps) mentors Chervelle Brudrage and Fred Vornbrok, in addition to the encouragement, I found in the passion and grind of Tre’ Mundy (Haute Ecole’).
