We had the good fortune of connecting with K. Domiana Ndour and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi K. Domiana, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
As a former professional athlete turned two-time bestselling author, international speaker, intuitive healer, and coach I am not only able to make an impact in my community, but also make a global impact around the world. First and foremost as a professional athlete who played overseas I was able to give back to each community I was a part of (Poland, Romania, Mexico, Spain) through camps, community service and mentorship.

Now, as an author, my books have made quite the impact in the world. My first book “Help! My Husband Is Hardly Home” was a bestseller in the US and my second
Help! I Need a Break From Motherhood” hit bestseller status in 4 countries, US, UK, Canada, and Germany. That alone is incredible because my books were able to make it into the hands of thousands of women around the globe who needed it most.

Since writing my first book, I started my coaching and healing business. I help busy moms shift their mindset, heal generational trauma and free up energy to create alignment, break the cycle, and become their highest self. Motherhood brings up so much “stuff” and you’re reparenting yourself, healing, trying to raise your own humans all while doing day-to-day mom operations it can feel extremely draining and stressful. So that’s why I teach women who are “left to do the rest” how to live fun, fulfilling lives without the overwhelm, burnout or isolation.

Not many people have access to holistic healing modalities or have resources for self-healing so it’s extremely rewarding to bring a more holistic and spiritual perspective to people all around the world. Spoiler: I use holistic healing modalities like Somatic Release, EFT tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques), breathwork, yoga, energy work, and other modalities to shift mindset, but also to rewire the neural pathways, heal on a cellular level, calm the nervous system, and release trauma in the body because that’s where it’s actually stored. And as a byproduct my clients are able to manifest, strengthen their intuition and harness their power because this healing work is so powerful and potent.

I’ve spoken on major stages around the world ranging from athletes, moms, young boys, young girls, in Senegal, Spain, US, India. I teach on holistic topics that have very practical applications: how to trust your intuition, managing emotions/emotional intelligence and manifestation.

I have even led yoga, meditation and breathwork workshops in Senegal for young athletes, taught primary schools fun breathwork techniques to do when they get angry, upset or sad. In Senegal I spoke to students at a University in Senegal and showed them tools to alleviate stress and improve confidence and self esteem, held a postpartum seminar to new mothers in India, exhaustion and overwhelm workshops for moms in Spain.

It’s really rewarding being the conduit for healing and transformation. Heal. Transmute Transform. That’s what I’m all about.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a former pro athlete, bestselling author, international speaker with a coaching + healing business. I help busy moms shift their mindset, heal generational trauma and free up energy to create alignment, break the cycle, and become their highest self. My clients usually are the women who are “left to do the rest” and feel extremely overwhelmed, burnout and alone. So I teach them systems, tools and healing modalities to alleviate the weight of motherhood and how to live fun, fulfilling lives without the overwhelm, burnout or isolation.

I started off as a professional basketball player, which wasn’t an easy road–think uncoordinated, clumsy, lanky girl turned skilled, fundamentally sound player.. Once I retired, I became an at-home wife to have the flexibility as we were constantly moving for my husband’s career. The transition to “civilian life” was harder than I expected. It brought up so much stuff. I was lost, unclear of my purpose, and I struggled with feeling worthy because I wasn’t “doing anything”. After enough sulking, I took this as a major opportunity for me to heal and grow because of my athlete mentality.

Then, I became a mom isolated and alone in a new city while my husband was gone for months at a time. That brought up more stuff—resentment, jealousy, anger, fear, insecurity, doubt, hopelessness, just to name a few. You see, my husband is a professional basketball player and we’re constantly rooting and uprooting each season to a different city or country. Sometimes it works out and we’re all under one roof. Other times it just doesn’t work that way. It gets real lonely. It gets real hard. It takes a special kind of woman to hold down the fort and raise the babies all while taking care of herself.

I went through the majority of my first pregnancy alone, isolated, in a different city from my family, friends, and support system. I thought my new role as mom would help me feel more purpose and not like I was following my husband around the globe. I know now that I lost myself so much in his career.

I was managing and things were “fine”. My life seemed great on the outside and to everyone else it seemed like I had it all—the husband with a dope career, healthy family, and the luxury to stay at home and not work. But on the inside, I was crying for help. I remember saying daily, “this is not how it’s supposed to be” or “this can’t be my life for the rest of my life” or “I don’t know how much more of this I can take”. On top of that we found out I was pregnant with baby #2.

I know what it’s like to feel impatient with my kids
I know what it’s like to feel lonely
I know what it’s like to feel like you don’t have support
I know what it’s like to feel exhausted when you just wake up
I know what it’s like to just float and go through the motions
I know what it’s like to want a break but not know how to take a break

YOU’RE NOT ALONE. YOU’RE NOT THE ONLY ONE FEELING THIS WAY. AND THERE’S A DIFFERENT WAY.

I pulled myself out of the funk and have empowered hundreds of other women to do the same.
I’ve written TWO best-selling books: “Help! My Husband is Hardly Home: how to feel supported while raising your family” and “Help! I Need a Break from Motherhood: the SAHM guide to a balanced life”. I facilitate women’s circles, workshops, and serve as a healer and coach helping women heal because your kids trigger the mess out of you. From there, I saw that my books were making a massive impact on women’s lives and they were reaching out to me directly. I decided to take the dive into business and create programs, courses, private 1:1 coaching, and group coaching containers as an extension of my books. If you’re interested in more information you can go to www.kdomiana.com/schedule. I can help you decide if a program, course or coaching is right for you.

On paper, I have two bachelor’s degrees, a master’s degree in Communications, countless academic-related certifications, and a couple yoga certifications and somatic healing certs.

Now, I help busy moms shift their mindset and heal in order to free up energy, create balance, and become their highest selves. I teach moms how to alleviate the weight of the mother-load and get rid of overwhelm and mom burnout.

As a spiritual coach & healer, two-time bestselling author, certified yoga instructor, and retired professional basketball player, I fused all of my experience and knowledge together to create courses, programs, books, and a healing container for you. My coaching style is unique because I bring my athlete mindset fused with a sprinkle of spirituality and holistic modalities that are scientifically proven to heal, transmute and transform. I also pour my heart into my clients. No matter if it’s a on-demand course, group coaching program or private 1:1 coaching you’ll have access to me, not one of my coaches, but actually me! Also, I didn’t get to where I am alone. And that’s okay. There is always someone throwing the ladder back down. Someone threw down a ladder for me, so I am in the position where I can throw the ladder back down. It’s up to you if you wanna climb up. I didn’t became a professional athlete without a coach, mentor, or someone seeing potential in me that i couldn’t quite see in myself. Same thing for you. You might have a vision and have no idea who to get there. Or you might not believe in yourself or see the possibilities, but someone else can. That’s what a coach does. That’s what I do. I not only see something in you that you may not see in yourself, but I help you bridge the gap from where you are to where you wanna be. I help keep you accountable. They provide consistency and discipline which are required for lasting change. I am a catalyst for your MASSIVE transformation. You are doing the work, but I am a loving, supportive, firm coach with you every step of the way holding space for your healing and transformation.

Starting my own business has not been a cake walk. I am still very much at home full time, so I work around my two toddlers and manage balancing business, my family, and my life. I am constantly applying my own advice and teachings. I embody what I teach because what I teach works! There’s no way I could do what I do if i didn’t implement the systems, use my Conscious Mom Method, my 8 Steps Model, and use holistic modalities. For example, the art of receiving is a big concept I am constantly applying. I realize that I can’t do it all all by myself. And that’s okay. Just like I tell my clients, I have to allow myself to receive support and help too. So instead of running myself into the ground running my entire coaching +healing business by myself, I have expanded my team. We are now three!! On days when i get in a funk or am having a bad day, I open up one of my books to a random page and it always delivers a message that I need to hear at that moment. I am constantly eating my own words. Or when I’ve reached my limit, my toddlers are on a thousand, and I need a break I go back to my Conscious Mom Method outlined in my “Help! I Need a Break from Motherhood”

I’m a magnetic force who truly believes that motherhood is a celebration, and I’m so excited to share with you the wisdom I’ve collected from my adventures mom-in’ it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Okay so if you’re visiting me in “The Valley” (phoenix area and the surrounding suburbs) You gotta hike camelback, go to Papago Park and see Hole in the Rock.

We’ll take a day trip to Prescott the lake is so calming and stop at some (or all) of the national parks along the way.

We gotta hit up all of my favorite plant-based/vegan restaurants and juice joints. 24 Carrots, Solar, Cherish Farm, Pomegranate Cafe, Green New American Vegetarian, Giving Tree Cafe, the Uprooted Kitchen, Pita Jungle, and Green Lotus Vegan, the Original Chop Shop

My friend better bring swimsuits because the weather is loveeeee. We are swimming in our backyard or going to the waterpark.

And we will be moving our bodies so bring some yoga or gym clothes. The Biltmore LifeTime is where it’s at. After we get our workout in we can chill on the rooftop pool or hit up the spa.

We would check out Old Town in Scottsdale for a fun night out. And one other night we would go to Dwntwn in downtown phoenix. It’s the best Latin club in phoenix. We would salsa, bachata and break it down to some reggaeton.

If they are up for more adventure we can hot air balloon or go tubing at the lake. Orrrr go to Rocky Point Mexico. Its a quick 4 hour drive and we can take 2 days to enjoy resort life.

We are nonstop on the move, making memories, experiencing things and having fun.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom! She is the one who birthed me into this world, embodied countless dope qualities I value so much, and paved the way for me to do this work in the world. Without her guidance there’s no way I would be where I am.

I also want to take a moment to thank the people who took a chance on me. The people who saw potential in me when I didn’t see it in myself. The people who believed in me when I didn’t–Mike Skinner, Coach Ralph Gesualdo, and Henry Thomas.
