We had the good fortune of connecting with YourFavoriteProducer! and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi YourFavoriteProducer!, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For me the mindset I had for starting my own business was very simple. I wanted to be free and not necessarily have to actively “work” for my money. Fortunately being a music producer could provide all of those things for me and more. Making music doesn’t feel like work to me, and it can be so profitable if your good at what you do and make good relationships with people.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My names YourFavoriteProducer! I’m 22 and I’m from and currently live in Pittsburgh, Pa. I’m a record producer and aspiring film director I mainly dabble in hip hop, trap, and RnB but I can create any genre or mood. I think what sets me apart from other producers, and even other creatives is that I think for myself. I don’t steal others ideas, and I try to fill the void of what I think we’re missing and or needing in music at that given time. I’d say I got to where I’m at right now in my profession by being myself and always knowing myself and setting goals to help me be the person I truly see my self being and living the life I truly want to lead. Of course there was some strife nothing worth having in this world comes easy, let’s just say I’ve come a long way from making beats on my phone. Especially being from a city that has no real media coverage of artists and talent especially young people of color and the ones who make it out never come back to the city to really give us any spotlight but I understand what it takes to get out of here and what it would feel like to be able to give back. I wouldn’t say I overcame those challenges just yet I have a few connections but nothing concrete enough to get me where I see myself. The thing I’m most excited about is for the world to experience me as a producer and even a film director I have so many fresh and exciting ideas I know people will be drawn to I just need the right set of eyes on me to show what I truly can do. I truly want the world to get a chance to experience me one of the many reasons I choose not to let my identity to be known I want people to like the music I make because of what it sounds like because of what it makes them feel not because I just look the part or fit into what society calls attractive. I’d truly rather let the music and film do the talking for me I hope to be the person who can finally break through and put the Pittsburgh art scene truly into the spotlight I know a lot of people who will never realize their dream I just know I won’t be one of them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I’d definitely say let’s hit all the touristy spots like the incline, Mt.Washington, and the Point. For food I’d say let’s go grab some primanti’s, Hook fish and chicken or my new favorite as of late honeygrow. We could always stop by live fresh juicery and get a great àcai bowl or a fresh smoothie. We can go party and hang out on the south side along with all the other little bars around town. I love going to a Steelers game or a Pens game the pirates games are fun but would be better if the pirates could win more often then every now and then. Kennywood our local amusement park would definitely be on the list they have nostalgic rides and a Pittsburgh classic the potato patch. Home of the best cheese fries in town. We can always swing past market square downtown your bound to find some characters down there. Those are just a few places and things to do in the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
