In recent years I’ve sort of rejected the traditional idea of balance and have embraced harmony as my new north star. Harmony allows you to set the pace and tone for what your life looks like without the pressure of trying to create a perfect sense of balance. Instead of constantly striving to juggle everything equally, which can feel impossible and often leads to guilt or frustration, harmony invites you to embrace the flow of your unique journey. Balancing work, relationships, and personal time can be tricky, especially as a new entrepreneur. I make time for both business and my personal life, by having a calendar and not overbooking myself. Being a dog walker is a pretty free and relaxing job so it gives me an opportunity to multitask and plan ahead. I have to communicate with my clients, workers, girlfriends, family and friends, so having an outlook of what my week looks like helps me easily fit everyone in. There are times where I have to make hard decisions and may miss events or family outings but the biggest thing is not being so caught up in the business where I neglect friends and family all the time. I’m at the point in my business now where I can delegate more and push other responsibilities onto some of my workers which helps free up time for me. I still plan date nights, fun outings with my friends, and plan game nights with my family. Quality time is important to me and working on balancing my work life and personal life can coexist with structure and a plan. I told myself, balancing everything is an ongoing process, so it’s okay to make adjustments as my needs and circumstances change. Read more>>

Work-life balance has changed a lot for me over the years. I used to rag doll myself into workloads that were completely unreasonable and figure it out as I went. Everything in my life suffered for it, which should be expected, because I put myself less than last on my list of things I need to maintain. I learned from it, though. These days, I know how to gauge what I can handle and for how long. Read more>>

When I first became interested in becoming an entrepreneur I devoted all of my time to working. I’d miss events, holidays, parties, etc. because I was always working. I wanted to practice/work as much as I could to perfect my craft. I was young, so I didn’t mind missing out to become better at what I loved. Read more>>

Balancing work and life has definitely evolved for me over the years. When I first started out, it was all about the hustle—long hours in the kitchen, late nights perfecting recipes, and weekends spent catering events. But as a wife and mother, I’ve learned that balance isn’t just about dividing time evenly between work and family; it’s about being fully present in whatever I’m doing. Read more>>

Over time, my approach to work-life balance has shifted dramatically, especially in the past year or so. 2022 and 2023 brought significant changes to my life, including getting married and welcoming our sweet baby. Initially, it was about figuring out how to balance time between my partner, household responsibilities, and my work. But now, my baby has become the number one priority, and my daily schedule revolves around her routine—from the moment she wakes up to when she goes to sleep. I find myself working around her schedule, fitting in household chores and work tasks during the pockets of time when my family is playing with her or when she’s taking a nap. It’s been a learning process, but I’ve come to embrace this new rhythm and learn to multitask accordingly. Read more>>

My work-life balance has changed over time. I used to think I had to work 24/7, always be available, and respond to inquiries late at night and on weekends. This stress started affecting my health. Now, I set clear boundaries and make time for rest and family. This helps me stay productive, be present, and do well not just as a cake artist, but also as a wife, mom, and active community member.
