The one thing about this industry that outsiders are unaware of is the cost of goods we vs retail cost. In order to get quality clothing for our boutiques. We spend quite a bit. Therefore we have to in turn make a profit off the retail cost. The misconception is that we are paying the prices they see on Temu or SHEIN. You will hear lot of people say I can get that on those sites but what they don’t realize is it’s not the same material nor quality. Well how do I know this, This is also a trial an error business. There’s that saying, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” Whoever said that never worked in animation. It’s hard work, no matter how much you love it! The hours are long, the process is grueling, the work is punishing on your body. There’s a sense in which animators are made to feel that they should be grateful to have a job they’re passionate about, and therefore should accept low or no pay and poor work conditions. In fact, in some parts of our industry, that’s become the norm; as a result, a huge portion of the workforce is burned out, working second or even third jobs, and struggling to support themselves. Acting is amazing and an investment and a liberating thrill. I have been acting since I was nine, venturing here recently after these past two years into film. I love it. But I think the best thing about this industry is learning. Becoming better is the most satisfying gift. More than pay more than praise is getting more skills and acquiring more abilities to embody a role. Having an arsenal of acting abilities literally creates more opportunities.
