We asked folks about legacy and what they want people to remember about them. We’ve shared some of those responses below.

Andrés Mejía Plazas

I have never thought about my legacy in film in terms of superlatives, as in “he was one of the greatest of all time.” Of course that would be nice, but to have a signature style that people recognize and my name becoming synonymous to it would be the greatest compliment. My favorite director is Pedro Almodóvar and I don’t think people are able to put his films in a certain box because his movies are so genre bending and they have such a recognizable style that he is kind of in a realm of his own. I would like to be thought of as a person who took the success that came my way and the resources that it generated to help others who were less fortunate. I give alot to children through my sons charter school; sponsoring different events, donating money/resources to the school, taking time out of my day to show up and volunteer, because I know how important it is to give back to the community and for children to see success in action and that someone in the community cares about their future and hopefully inspires them to be better people.
