The most important thing that I have done as a parent is to WORK ON MYSELF!!! I made a conscious commitment to be present and active in my kids lives. To be most effective, I had to unlearn behaviors, learn to communicate more effectively and love more outwardly, learn to apologize, and let them see that I too have vulnerabilities. I can truly say that my kids have played a major part in my overall growth as a person and allows us to have an authentic relationship.
