One piece of conventional advice that I disagree with is that you should be okay with rejection. I have been in The Chain for almost four years, and I have definitely been told “no” many times. I was always told that I should be okay with rejection because it is simply a price that comes with the job. However, being okay with rejection leads to being complacent with where you are in your career. One thing I did starting out, and recommend any aspiring musician to do, is when being rejected you should first, accept it, and secondly, ask how you can improve. Read more>>

In the crafting industry it is common to hear that you should specialize in a very small number of product types. Some even say that you should focus on one specific product ( ex. tshirts) While this can definitely be a successful business philosophy for many, I believe that it is a great idea to explore several different crafting skillsets and once mastered, add them to your repertoire of products and services. I disagree with the advice that we don’t need people as long as we love ourselves. I like to say, it is because of the love we have for ourselves that also reminds us of why we need relationships with other people. I think it’s important to understand how beneficial the relationship is not only with self but with others.
