We had the good fortune of connecting with Tangela Parker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tangela, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My balance has changed tremendously through the years. I have learned to plan my days better and set aside time for self-care. My daily planning practices are very traditional. I use the Savoy Beauty Planner which allows planning for 90 days. It is very interactive and gives me the ability to see my growth and development as well as my hits and misses both personally and professionally.

“I have come to believe that caring for myself is not self indulgent, caring for myself is an act of survival.”-Audre Lorde

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My entire career has been in healthcare. I love to work and serve the community both personally and professionally. The passion to serve is what sets me apart from others. Working in the community and giving back is not just a job for me, it is a calling. I achieved my current professional success through hard work, dedication and understanding that you can not be rigid and expect to be successful. I continue to learn daily and seek the guidance of my mentors on challenges I face in my career.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my grandmother Willette Carter. She is the matriarch of our family and is everyone’s biggest cheerleader. Her conversations are filled with wisdom, love and support. Through her guidance I have learned how to be intentional with my efforts, caring and resilient. My niece LaKayla and nephews Christopher and Warren who keep me on my toes. I am honored to be their “Munty”!
