We were fortunate to catch up with some brilliant artists, creatives and entrepreneurs from throughout the Houston area and they share the wisdom with us below.

I worked in the music industry during and post college that took me to NYC. I loved the process of finding and representing underground artists, and sharing that artistry with others, I also have always been interested in cooking, since age 11. When I moved back to Atlanta in 2019, I wanted to find a way to intersect my two big loves, music and food, through the lens of culture. I know to keep going because at one point I decided to start. I found a hobby. It became a passion. Then, I realized I needed to completely pursue this because I could see no other path.

One book that had a huge impact on me is The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk. This book explores how trauma affects the brain and body, often manifesting physically and emotionally long after the original experience of the trauma. Read More>>

I’m from what was a small town in Northern Ohio, now a sprawling suburb. My family is large and full of love and chaos. I have seven older siblings and tons of nieces and nephews. My grandparents immigrated from Eastern Europe in the early 1900s, so the values of hard work, perseverance, and family were deeply embedded in our lives. My father built a successful business from the ground up, and it became both a source of stability and a career path for many of us. Work life balance can be such a struggle for many business owners. I was awful at juggling this in the beginning. Through trial and error, I slowly learned. There is a time for work and for family. For me, having a schedule and a designated office at home makes it easier for me. Once I’m in my office space, I know it’s time to work. I have times that I check my email per day. That way I don’t get overwhelmed by communication or disctract4ed from stopping what I’m already working on to answer it right then.
