We had the good fortune of connecting with RaQuita Weathers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi RaQuita, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Having a strong will for success has been a huge factor in my business. It’s showing other young women who look up to me that anything is possible even with a family and a full-time job. You can do anything if you’re truly determined to see it through.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In my professional day to day life, I’m a Financial Analyst who spent many years understanding business finance and working in corporate America. However, that’s not a fulfilling career alone for me. I am fulfilled by bringing value and quality to women of color through my talents. Initially, my entrepreneurial journey started in dance which is where my love for women empowerment thrived. Over the years, I found it more difficult to maintain the same drive while raising a young child. I needed the stability of having my evenings back for family time and most importantly, if I were going to leave my home for work, it needed to have lucrative rewards for my time. Photography gave me just that. It’s been an outlet to express my artistic side and produce content that shows women in a positive and powerful state. In the beginning, I took almost any client that came my way for little of nothing. Over time, I learned quickly what I was willing and unwilling to offer, what I liked to shoot and what I hated. Now that it’s been nearly two years, I can honestly say that starting my photography business, Belle Rouge Photography was one of the greatest decisions I’ve made for myself and for my family. I now even co-own my own studio, Photography BAE Studios which has been another source of advancement for my brand and taught me even more about business. I want those who are interested in photography to just get started! It’s a creative industry and no matter how many photographers there are, no one will be YOU. While starting, make sure to PERFECT your craft and learn the skills necessary to be great in your field.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite spots in the city include: Eateries: Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours Atlanta Breakfast Club, Two Urban Licks, Southern Gentlemen, Del Friscos, Front Page News

Places to Visit: Lenox Square Mall for Luxury Shopping, Piedmont Park for scenery and to take a nice jog Downtown in general

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband deserves a shoutout for allowing me to be great! It may sound cliche but at the same time, I can only do what I do today with his support. He’s pushed me to not sell myself short. With having a little one, it takes support from home to be able to go out in the world and be more than a mother or a wife. Without that type of backing, it would be difficult to achieve many of the accomplishments I have over the past years. Another, support system that I have would be the women around me. I only keep positive role models in my circle that inspire and push me to be better. Each of you know exactly who you are and I’m forever grateful!
