We had the good fortune of connecting with Randy A. Waczkowski and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Randy A., do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
An individual’s best habit is not only consistency, but also an openness to learning. Learning does not always have to come from one’s own mistakes or experiences, but also from that of others. I have learned most of what I know about this industry from shadowing others, observing what works and what does not work, and taking note of what I learn. Many people believe that their knowledge is the best since it is what has brought them to this point, but I disagree, there is always room for new knowledge to be gained.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It is through my art that I am able to express how I feel about certain issues in my life and about my human experience. Through the creation of sci-fi music and artworks, I was able to convey certain aspects of my personality and transform them into characters with strengths and weaknesses. Not only have I found my niche musically, but it also enables me to touch on various forms of art; allowing people to experience these characters from a variety of perspectives. People will be able to gain a better understanding of their own complex nature through experiencing these characters’ trials and tribulations. Human minds are like layers; they never possess a single personality. The characters in my Novel Series represent the layers of my mind, and I look forward to reading critiques and analyses of them.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am adventurous so a place I would recommend is The Complex Sports in Buford. Just because we are adults now does not mean the inner child has gone away. We are just bigger kids now so this indoor arcade/sports center would be a great weekend activity for active friends.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to show great appreciation to the village that has guided my growth and development. Starting with my parents, Chaka R. Waczkowski & Randy Waczkowski, that have built the foundation for me to stand, grow, and take flight. I have to also show appreciation to my mentors, Humberto Perel, Linda Sayseng, Bryant Person, Debra Person, Shabazz Muhammad, Courtenay Johnson, and Felicia Franklin. I would also like to show gratitude for the unconditional support by brothers, Cam Hay, Angel Calderon, Ryan Pauling, Bradley Waczkowski. As well as for my sisters, Toni Waczkowski, Tamara Thurman, Brianna Russel, and Moshanique Robinson. I also have to show appreciation to my roots, both the Kinship Care Resource Center and Flint River Community Center for furthering my development as well.
