We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikki Montana and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nikki, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Everything in my life that i’ve wanted has required risk. The risk for the most part always involves each individuals’ fears. The risk is the adrenaline and endurance to conquer your fears and fully leap into the unknown of your desires. What I’ve found is that it is almost always worth taking the risk, because it is your intuition telling you to go in the direction of the desire, going towards what you are meant for. Just like in life, I try to go with the flow, and not to put resistance or to force anything, yet at the same time always putting efforts on my end in motion, to mix up the perfect recipe for getting the results I desire and better. There are so many moments I can think of, if I hadn’t gone out to network at this event, or posted this video, etc I wouldn’t have met that person or got that DJ gig or just wouldn’t be one step closer to where I want to be.

To me, it’s like.. I know the blueprint of what I need to do to get where I want to be, so I have to put everything in motion, hustle like crazy and maintain that momentum in a positive way. By me doing that I’m always seeing some type of result that advances me forward, even if it’s just a small step.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m Nikki Montana, I am DJ and artist. People in college started calling me Montana because they thought it was crazy that I’m actually from Montana. I find it hard to really describe myself because I am so many things, and so many different versions of me exist within every person that sees me or actually knows my spirit. I’m so proud of who I’ve become at this very moment, and who I’m becoming. I finally feel that I’ve been generating this amazing foundation for myself. I have so much more confidence and direction than I’ve had ..ever, and I know it’s only going get better. Its that turning point in my later 20’s where, I’ve been through a substantial amount of good and bad experiences to where I have began to see the algorithm of things (for the most part) and am able to follow a strategic plan. Yet, I am confident that really I have soooo much more to learn in this life. The most important thing I consistently do is stay fearless and remain confident and continue to build a better work ethic everyday. See the vision, create a plan and go after it everyday until you get it. Nothing less than the hunger and action towards your dreams.
I’ve mentioned before that nothing is easy though, but I constantly remind myself to live in the present moment, that’s where the magic is. I’ve had many ups and downs and times where I am questioning my passions, my progress and what I’m doing with my life. But…you will know what’s for you and what makes you come alive. You can’t run from your desires.. they will follow you everywhere you go!
The secret is inside of you though. All of the answers. The confusion, fear, fear of judgment, worry of how to make money doing what you love, having a foggy vision of the future, current pain… there’s is so much, yet the simple answer is to… JUST START. Start where you are, with what you have and with who you are at the very moment, that’s all you ever need anyways… is YOU. As you begin to start and everyday, you begin to build momentum and create many things. Soon those things start shape in the form of YOU, a brand, an overall image- MOMENTUM. Watch as the more you take action on your plans and visions, everything will begin to work out and align PERFECTLY for you. Now, how do you feel… do you feel alive.. proud of yourself.. do you know YOU are doing it just because you simply….STARTED? Do that.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are still so many places I have yet to explore I ATL. In terms of food I would say: The Optimist, The Iberian Pig, Palo Santo (there’s so many good spots). Hit up Super Sounds Studios to record & any club event with Elite Star ENT & Benny ENT. For nature I love Fort Yargo state park, but really there is something to do for pretty much anything in Atlanta, you just have to explore and see what you like.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family and friends of course, they know my love and appreciation for them. But…there is a book that changed my mindset that you guys have to read, it’s called: Thought Vibration By William Walker Atkinson.
Wow. I have read many books, but the funny thing about life sometimes, is that you can regurgitate the same information over and over, but all it takes is that one way some explains it differently for it to REALLY click for you. One of the quotes that sticks with me is: “Realize that fear paralyzes effort and that courage promotes activity.” I will never forget once I opened that book, I LITERALLY felt my whole spirit change and I stopped holding myself back.
Cultivate the techniques from the book to strengthen your courage, focus, desire & actions. With anything in life, these are a very strong foundations to have. They will never break once you truly believe in them, no matter what obstacles are thrown.
