Meet Zende: Rapper, Producer, and Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zende and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zende, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For starters I’m still trying to figure things out right now, Whether it’s a label , clothing line, online businesses, etc. Honestly starting my own business was harder than I thought it’d be. Not that I thought it was necessarily going to be easy, There’s just so much that goes into like marketing, budgeting, advertising. I knew what I wanted to do It was just a matter of putting all the pieces together.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well for starters my name is Zende I’m from Pittsburgh and I try to incorporate different elements into my music such as video games, unique samples, anime references , etc. I like to stick out and be original by the way I dress as well as my production choices. I got to where I am at today by working hard and being consistent. I never gave up on myself even when my back was against the wall. I looked at life like I’ve already made it this far so why would I stop? A lesson I’ve learned along the way is that you have to be prepared, ready, and focused if you want to be successful. I want the world to know that I will be one of the biggest artist to ever live and you’re looking at a renaissance man in the making.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my Bestfriend was visiting the city I’d take them to the Andy Warhol Museum and The Mattress Factory to check out the art. For food we could either hit up Oakland or the Strip district. For fun we could go to Zone 28 or hit up the Southside. If we wanted to be productive then we could book a studio session. If we wanted to just talk I’d go to the overlook in Mount Washington. I’ve met the most interesting people downtown Pittsburgh easily. The funnest part of the city could really differ depending on your demographic. Usually it’s fun if you grew up here but besides that I’m not sure

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout Pharrell, Tyler, The Creator, Drake, Big Sean , Jay-Z, Kanye , Childish Gambino all for showing me that I can do anything and Pittsburgh for shaping me into the artist I am today.
