Meet Zelenka Boyd | Blogger, social media influencer and mompreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zelenka Boyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zelenka, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I first decided that I wanted to branch out on my own and be a blogger, I knew that I wanted to be a vessel for God in helping women and specifically single moms who’s odds were stacked up against them, to gain the strength and motivation to go against the grain and do what society sometimes feel like we can’t do. I know that sometimes we’re made to feel like “just because we’re left to raise kids alone (for one reason or another) we can’t pursue our own dreams” which can’t be further from the truth.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my story. Part of my motivation and back story for being an influencer and blogger is the fact that I am a survivor of domestic violence. I know that there are women out there who need to hear my story and what I went through so that they know that they can make it out as well. I don’t mind being the face of what it looks like to be on the other side of domestic violence; the victorious side.
Along the way, I’ve learned patience through hard work and laying the foundation and groundwork for a successful outcome. I’m also learning the beauty of imperfect work. When i first started my kids’ blog I was always focused on constantly perfecting my photos and getting that perfect shot, where as now I’m finding the beauty and meaning in just letting my kids be and supporting them as they just find their own vibe and I just enjoy capturing the moment.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being that I live in a very small town, we normally have to travel a little further out of town for fun and entertainment. If I had to plan an itinerary I would definitely recommend a nice brunch spot called Another Broken Egg Cafe in Auburn, AL which is about 30 minutes from my hometown. For a great workout, I would suggest a MixxedFit class at my sister’s studio. And then in terms of a great drink spot for a loaded tea or shake I’d suggest Tallapoosa Nutrition; and the great thing about both of those is that they are both located right in my hometown so there’s no need to make a long drive!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The person who deserves recognition in my story is my Mother. She’s shown me what it means to be the epitome of relentless, selfless and distinguished. I’ve seen her make something out of nothing and we never had to suffer or feel the strain of not having the things that we needed. She has always let my sister and I know that no matter how old we get she will always be there for us and I am forever thankful for that.
