We had the good fortune of connecting with Yolanda Barratsingh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yolanda, can you tell us about a book that has had a meaningful impact on you?
Zag by Marty Neumeier: Our branding and marketing strategy is built on the Zag process, which helps create radical differentiation from others and identify white space within markets. There is a process for designing a brand that Marty Neumeier teaches, and it’s exactly what we’ve executed on. If anyone reads his book, you will clearly identify our Zag.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets us apart is that we’re the only aromatherapy company using art and culture to inspire daily mindfulness for creatives. Respire is the demonstration of that.

I am proud and excited about implementing strategies, making the necessary adjustments, observing the results, and generating revenue.

I got to where am today from a lot research , testing and doing the work for free.

Easy? It’s uncomfortable because you’re hoping what needs to be true to win actually is.

Overcoming challenges – think of more than one way to win.

The lessons I’ve learned are that doing business with integrity makes the company solid , establishes trust, and I apply this same principle to my personal business . Additionally, identifying pitfalls and red flags early helps avoid problems and saves time and money.

We want people to know that our vision is to be the most inspiring aromatherapy company Atlanta creatives trust and use.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would rent an Airbnb in the city to stay centrally located and have a good time in the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Chris Do, the founder of The Futur, an online education platform for creatives, provided the blueprint for building Suckafree Sage and leveraging my skills as a creative.

Seth Godin, author of This Is Marketing, is where I learned what I know about marketing.

Roger Martin, the author, taught me what strategy is and what it is not. Our strategy is built from his teachings.
