We had the good fortune of connecting with Yoko Rich and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yoko, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
The Biblical quote that I live by, especially during trying times, would be “All things are possible, through Christ, who strengthens me”, which is found in Philippians 4:13 in the bible. My break down of that scripture is:
I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me to fulfill His (my) purpose. I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.
I really love how this scripture, once broken down can really empower you to move forward and be strong in your journey. This is my go-to during those times when I’m ready to give up.
I also have an affirmation I live by daily and I write it down everywhere, its “I am the Master of my Fate and the Captain of my soul”. I speak this affirmation, daily and throughout the day, because it’s a reminder that I control my emotions, and my responses so when dealing with the world, I determine the outcome with actions. So, I’m reminded of that by affirming this daily. These things keep me in check.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Rich Craft Candle is a handcrafted candle company, created by me during the COVID-19 pandemic. We make handcrafted cannabis and hemp scented candles (and some other scents), But our focus is cannabis and hemp scented candles. The idea was created from my experience as a studio manager, and desiring better smells in the environment, I was currently working in. I created a candle that would blend with the smokey scents and make the room smell more desirable. It sounded like a great idea, and once quarantined, I had more than enough time to make it a reality. And we launched and made our first sale in April. Today, almost 1 year later, I’ve had over 500 sales (Online/Retail sales transactions). I’m very proud of myself. This is my first online retail business, so I was very nervous. I learned so much so quickly, and I made so many bad candles. But you have to stay consistent with your work and continue to practice your craft because practice makes perfect. So, I made a decision to keep going no matter how difficult it became. Rich Craft Candle wants to become a household candle brand name, so I have so much to come, so stay tuned.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
OMG! I am not only the biggest homebody ever, I’m also, not from Georgia. So, if my friends came to visit, we would more than likely visit all of the best restaurants, I’ve experienced here so far. and go to all of the places I have yet to visit which is quite a few. And catch some sports events. Wow! I gotta get out more.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
