We had the good fortune of connecting with Yelena Hertzberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yelena, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Our company’s motto and overall culture is, and has always been, to be “straight shooters.” In our logo, we incorporated an arrow to represent exactly that. When you are known in your industry, in your community, as a company and people behind it, that are real, honest, and down-to-earth, you create a brand that is valued, respected, and sawt after. Our brand’s success solely lies in the quality of the members of our Tribe.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
By contrary belief, the Film Industry is relatively small in comparison. It is more like a community. A family. What I love about our family is that we support one another. We are all working for the common goal. It doesn’t matter what title you are holding, what particular job you are doing or what union you are a member of, we are all “in it together.” You always know that if you need a recommendation, have a question or need support, you can always find it. When you surround yourself with people you enjoy working with and respect, you will love what you do every day. Life is too short, don’t waste a moment on negativity and drama. Personally and professionally, I try to stay away from negative, toxic people. I mostly focus on one’s character above all. Their resume and experience is secondary. Our clients know that when they work with FilmTribe, they are working with a hand-picked team who’s number one goal is to help them succeed.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our headquarters is located in the heart of the city on the famous Zonolite Road. We are on the border of Morningside and Virginia-Highland, minutes from Little Five Point, Mid-town, Downtown and Buckhead. There’s so much to do and see around us, that all you have to do is get in you car and drive a mile east, west, north or south. No car? No problem. Right in our backyard, literally, we have the popular “Zonolite Park” with nature preserve, dog park, a small beach (yes, beach), and walking trails that connect to the BeltLine. Hungry? No need to go far. Just step out of our building and you are steps away from the famous Floataway Cafe, serving up French-Italian delicacies in the restored warehouse overlooking the Zonolite Park. Ponce City market is only a 10 minute drive with dozens of shops and restaurants. Stone Mountain is not far as well, where you can hike-up the mountain and enjoy the fresh air and the views. If you want a big-city shopping and dining experience without going very far, Buckhead is a 10 minute straight shoot. We love our location. We love our city. We love ATL.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My loudest shoutout goes to our amazing, talented, and hardworking Tribe, comprised of hundreds of Tribe members, spanning from producers, directors, DP’s, crew members, casting directors, actors, sales reps, accountants, and much more. Your passion for filmmaking, your determination, hard work and endless love and support is what keeps us going and gives us the fuel to do what we do. Thank you!!!
