We had the good fortune of connecting with Yanta Haynes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yanta, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
Reflecting on my experience as a parent, the most significant impact hasn’t come from what I’ve done but from what my daughter has done for me. She has been my mirror, reflecting who I am as a parent and person. Her acceptance and understanding have allowed me to embrace my authentic self, even in our most challenging times.

When financial constraints were a reality, I chose honesty over pretense with her. Her response was not of resentment or disappointment but of understanding and adaptability. This taught me the value of transparency in our relationship. Her ability to adjust when I couldn’t attend her school activities showed her resilience and empathy. It was a lesson in mutual respect and understanding.

The most pivotal moment, however, came when she was 16. She noticed a change in me that I hadn’t fully recognized – she saw the signs of my struggle with PTSD before I did. Her courage to voice her concerns and tell me I needed help was a turning point in my life. Her insight and bravery led me to seek my needed help, ultimately saving my life.

What have I done as a parent? I’ve listened. I’ve allowed her voice to matter. In doing so, I’ve learned that parenting is not just about guiding and teaching; it’s about being open to learning from your child. It’s a partnership where their thoughts, feelings, and perspectives are just as valuable as your own. This approach has strengthened our bond and been a constant source of growth and insight for me. My daughter has been my greatest teacher, showing me the power of listening, the strength in vulnerability, and the importance of being true to oneself.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Its foundation in a unique blend of military discipline and a deep understanding of shadow work and Neuro-linguistic Programming (human psychology) sets my business apart. My approach combines the structured, strategic thinking honed in the military with empathetic, transformative life and business coaching techniques. This combination allows me to offer a distinct perspective and methodology that is both pragmatic and deeply attuned to individual needs.

I am proud to create a space where BIPOC Women and LGBTQ+ individuals feel empowered, understood, and supported. Seeing clients break through barriers and redefine their life stories is incredibly fulfilling. Each transformation is a testament to the power of resilience and self-belief, and being a part of that journey excites me every day.

Getting to where I am today took a lot of work. Transitioning from a structured military environment to the fluid world of entrepreneurship involved a steep learning curve. I faced challenges in adapting to a new way of working, understanding the nuances of the market, and building a client base from scratch.

However, I overcame these challenges by applying the same principles that served me in the military: discipline, adaptability, and a relentless pursuit of goals. I learned to embrace uncertainty as an opportunity for growth and innovation.

One key lesson I’ve learned is the importance of resilience. In business, as in life, setbacks are inevitable, but they are also invaluable learning opportunities. Another lesson is the power of authenticity. Being true to myself and my values has been crucial in connecting with clients and building a brand that genuinely reflects who I am and what I stand for.

I want the world to know that my brand is more than a business; it’s a mission to empower, uplift, and transform lives. It’s about helping individuals envision a better future and empowering them with the tools and mindset to make it a reality. My story is one of constant evolution. I want to inspire others to believe that change, growth, and success are within their reach, no matter their background or circumstances.

I’m excited to share that this quarter marks the release of my new book, Shadow Work Workbook – Blueprint to Self-Discovery, Reclaiming Your Power & Empowering Your Authentic Self. This publication culminates my experiences and insights, offering readers a guide to profound self-discovery and empowerment. It embodies my dedication to helping others journey to a more authentic and powerful self.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a resident of the vibrant Atlanta and Gwinnett County area, I’ve enjoyed exploring and enjoying many diverse spots that truly make this place unique. From cultural experiences to culinary delights, there’s a rich tapestry of activities that I adore and often recommend.

One of my absolute favorite places is the High Museum of Art. It’s not just an art museum; it’s a gateway to different worlds and perspectives. The exhibitions there always inspire and provoke thought.

When it comes to dining, I frequent a few favorites. Flower Child and Poor Calvin’s offers a delightful culinary experience with unique and flavorful dishes. Agave Restaurant is another gem, especially for those who love good Southwestern cuisine. For a more relaxed vibe, my go-to, Cafe Intermezzo, is perfect for a casual meet-up or unwinding with a good book.

Regarding books, 44th & 3rd Bookseller is a treasure trove for book lovers. It’s more than a bookstore; it’s a community space where ideas and cultures converge.

For entertainment, I keep an eye on the Fox Theatre’s schedule. There is always a memorable experience, whether it’s a play or a musical.

For relaxation and rejuvenation, JeJu Sauna is my sanctuary. It’s a place where I can unplug and recharge, both mentally and physically. For a touch of nature, the Roswell Mill waterfalls offer a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle.

The Roof at Ponce City Market is another fantastic spot, offering great views and a lively atmosphere. It’s a perfect representation of Atlanta’s vibrant urban spirit.

And for those seeking adventure, check out one of the closest Skydiving Centers near Atlanta. It’s an exhilarating experience that will provide a different perspective on the area – quite literally!

Each place holds a special spot in my heart and represents what makes Atlanta and Gwinnett County unique and delightful.
