We had the good fortune of connecting with Yamira Sól and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yamira, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m originally from South Florida. Miami born, West Palm Beach raised. I grew up in an artistic family, so throughout the years I’ve developed and learned how to create pretty much my whole life ever since I was 3. I’ve attended art schools growing up (elementary, middle, & highschool). As I grew older, my style and subject matters/mediums have changed overtime. Tattooing came to me naturally, and ever since I was introduced to tattooing, I’ve never worked a corporate job ever again.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always been drawn to surrealism and it came to me naturally as well. I’ve always been drawn to non traditional art and bright colors, all while make expressionism my main focus. How I got to where I am now professionally was not only my talent, but my strong will and never giving up. Throughout the years I’ve been discouraged at times, but I’m forever thankful that I never gave up. Couldn’t imagine where I’d be if I hadn’t continued with my craft. What I want the world to know about myself and my brand is that everything I do is out of pure love for my craft and wanting to share that with the world. Being a first generation born kid to immigrant parents taught me a lot about their upbringing and has also shaped mine. I want to make them proud. I worked very hard and still continue to work hard even on my worst days because everything I’ve worked hard to do will pay off in the end. Lessons I’ve learned on my artistic journey was to stay strong during tough times and to always be inspired/motivated. And to always remain humble, but confident. Don’t talk too much either, just show what you can bring. Most importantly, I intend on making people happy with/have different interpretations of my art.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d take them out in nature like the woods, forest, waterfalls, springs, rivers. Or the beach. It’s where I get my inspiration and my mind clear. I love places where I can be calm and spiritual. Genuinely fun social settings and where the vibes are right.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to dedicate this moment to giving a shout out to my dad for introducing me to art. He’s always been artistic, even til this day! I was veryyy hyper when I was young, so art helped calm me down. It was my outlet. And I’d also love to give a shoutout to my mom as well. She saw the vision and is the one who made the effort into putting me in art schools. She’s contributed to my success and helped make things happen. Forever grateful.
