We had the good fortune of connecting with Yakira Cartledge and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yakira, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I founded My Endo For You with a deep sense of empathy for women facing health challenges similar to what I experienced as a teenager and young adult. At 14, I underwent emergency surgery for Ovarian Torsion, followed by a diagnosis of Endometriosis and PCOS. Back then, I felt utterly alone and bewildered, unaware of these conditions and struggling to find support. Despite medical attention, my health continued to deteriorate over the years, leaving me feeling increasingly hopeless and isolated.
In the depths of despair, I had a profound realization. I understood that every trial we face is an opportunity for growth, not defeat. I resolved to channel my experiences into creating a supportive community where women could share their stories, find solace in knowing they’re not alone, and access vital knowledge about caring for their bodies. My Endo For You became a beacon of hope and awareness, dedicated to empowering women to love themselves and navigate their health journeys with resilience and grace.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In addition to my platform, My Endo For You, I’m also deeply involved in content creation and social media management. What sets me apart in the content creation realm is my unique editing style, rooted in a lifelong passion for film and videography.
Transitioning into this field professionally wasn’t without its challenges. Many restaurants still adhere to outdated practices or prioritize follower count over creativity and impact. I’ve faced my fair share of rejections and ghosting, but I’ve learned not to let these setbacks define me. Instead, I focus on the value of my work and the opportunities that lie ahead. Every “no” simply leads to new opportunities.
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is that comparison is a joy thief. Each individual’s journey is unique, and comparing ourselves to others only dims our own light. I’ve embraced the idea that my path is uniquely mine, and I’m committed to shining brightly in my own season.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my dad, who gifted me a book that became a guiding light during a challenging time. The book, “Unlearn 101 Simple Truths For A Better Life” by Humble the Poet, imparted invaluable wisdom that reshaped my perspective. It reminded me of fundamental truths I’d lost sight of, like the importance of embracing fears, letting go, and cherishing the present moment. It was a wake-up call to stop allowing setbacks to overshadow my blessings.
Dr. Trinidad Osselyn, a remarkable family doctor at Kaiser in Conyers, GA, also deserves recognition. Despite my health concerns being beyond her scope, she never wavered in her support. She assisted with disability paperwork, listened empathetically, and tirelessly pursued avenues for relief. Her commitment to women’s health, particularly as a compassionate black doctor, is truly commendable.
In addition to my dad and Dr. Trinidad Osselyn, I’d like to extend heartfelt gratitude to my family, boyfriend, and close friends. Their unwavering support and selfless acts of kindness were instrumental during my darkest moments. They ensured I made it to doctor’s appointments when I couldn’t muster the strength and held me accountable on my journey to better health. Their love and encouragement have been my anchor, guiding me through every challenge with unwavering support and love.
