We had the good fortune of connecting with Yaa Asare-Nyarko and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yaa, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am constantly in a perpetual state of inspiration. My Inspiration ranges from my clients to facing my own personal challenges. I find a way to be inspired on a daily basis. I don’t have to go far to be inspired, get inspired or to inspire others. Fitness has not always been my way to express my inspiration or to even find it. But after years of finding something or someone to inspire me, I decided to be my own inspiration. I reflect on the marathon I ran in 2015 and it inspires me to run 10 miles today. A client from my M.O.M Squad that shares their fears and it inspires me to do interval training in the morning. My co-Breast Cancer Survivor sisters from Bod Squat to Stunning Survivors share how the 30 Day Fitness and Nutrition Challenge not only helped them lose weight but also love themselves again inspire me to make healthy food choices for dinner. Being inspired sometimes doesn’t always bring smiles and laughs for me. I find inspiration in the unknown, it gives me hope, it helps me to believe things are working out for me. It inspires me to dig deep and connect with my inner “why” “why am I doing this?” “why is this important?” The answers inspire me to go that extra mile, drink that last 30 oz of water, keep to my diet, do a HIIT workout in 30 minutes.
As a Health Coach, Yaa Astar, I help people who are successful in their careers, people who are crushing it in their businesses, have fulfilling relationships with family, friends, and partners but lack the consistency and the motivation in their health who aspire to be healthier. I offer a 3 month program called Healthy Boss. My clients go through a 3 phase transformational system which includes behavioral change, nutritional and supplemental care, and fitness/activity level. I am excited about offering this program, because it was trials, errors, and more trials, and finally a pivot to what works and most importantly addressing what women and men needed to be successful in their health; consistency, accountability, and self-discipline. I am more than qualified to help men and women achieve their goals because I have done it over and over from running a Marathon to competing in bodybuilding competitions. The key to my success was and still is, creating habits that form consistency, keeping my eyes on the goal, which kept me motivated, and doing what was necessary to stay motivated and consistent which was and still is ; self – discipline. The most valuable lesson I have learned on my journey; was and still is #1. focus on what’s in front of me at the moment. Take it one day, activity, meal, and behavior at time. #2. Never give myself an option(this is my secret) when the alarm goes off, I don’t offer myself an option to sleep in. I must move to putting on the workout clothes and thanking God for the opportunity for another day to getting closer to my goal. #3. Never give up! I can’t stress it enough! The never give up attitude propelled me to place in bodybuilding competitions, it was what was needed when I had to run one more mile to get to the finish line of every single race I participated in. The world needs to know that Yaa Astar helps people believe in themselves and their ability to achieve their health goals to lead a healthier lifestyle, feel good about themselves, like what they see in the mirror and have more confidence!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I like to base the best go to spots in the city is where the best foods are served! Plan a day around eating! lol After a great workout, breakfast at Oyi! (https://www.oyrestaurant.com/Home) that specialize in these delicious large pizza pie-like shaped panacakes!!!! After breakfast, no better place to walk it off than Piedmont Park! After a stroll in the park and enjoying Atlanta outdoor festivities, I would take them to Eclipse di Luna(eclipsediluna.com) for a light lunch of tapas, don’t want to get too full before dinner. After lunch, no better place than to go across the street to Perimeter mall for shop light shopping. By this time, its about late afternoon, and looking for a place to just sit and talk about our day, we would head over to Café Intermezzo (https://www.cafeintermezzo.com) for coffee or even afternoon dessert! We are then off to the High Museum(high.org) to tour the latest art work. After the appreciating all the wonderful art, we then head to Mezza Luna (www.mezzalunamarietta.com) for an Italian dinner! After such a wonderful dinner, you guessed it, off to walking again, this time we will end the evening with touring the botanical gardens (https://atlantabg.org) of the latest garden exhibit. Once that day is all done, of course, retire at the St. Regis (https://www.marriott.com/st. regis/atlanta).
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I like to say thank you to my Higher Power(God) coaches that believed in me, advisors, mentors and clients, friends and family members.
