We had the good fortune of connecting with Xolah Gebor Geborah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Xolah Gebor, what makes you happy? Why?
Many things make me happy but I’ll share a few: the sound of my daughters voice and laugh (she reminds me of the 80’s chipmunk cartoons), flowers because they remind me to take my time & enjoy beauty, dancing because it’s an easy way to exercise, release energy and overall I love it. Exploring new places because I can discover something new and complete projects ~ I learn something with each one.

These things all fill my inner cup in a joyful way, but experiencing life on my terms also makes me happy and brings freedom to my spirit no-one can take away.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others? is my unique design (being a multidimensional creative with an open mind to learn more), my experiences & how I reshape them into my work + I love evolving more into who I am.

I am so excited about several upcoming endeavors with writing/poetry, producing & film.

How did I get where I am?
I always knew I was a creative (since age 4) and growing up I became more and more curious about how good I could be and where I could go with my gift.

No, it wasn’t always easy for many reasons (timing, who is involved, budgets, personal relationships). I overcame my challenges with prayer FIRST, critically thinking about what I could do in each moment and not losing sight of the goal to do better.

I’ve learned several lessons: trust the process, enjoy the journey and be more patient with myself ~ grace goes a LONG way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Flying Biscuit for breakfast (Shrimp & Grits + Avocado toast & tea! )

Edgewood Pizzeria (Pizza & drinks)

Rooftop @ Ponce City Market for dinner, drinks & games

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am very thankful for the love and encouragement I receive from my close friends (Brenda, Cleo & Howard!). They keep me grounded, exploring new creative things and encourage me when I need it. LOVE YOU GUYS!!
