Meet WilliamGold | Music Producer, Audio & Visual Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with WilliamGold and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi WilliamGold, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
WilliamGold:
My entire life up until 2021 I spent assuming I’d have to find a way to fit the mold of corporate America. I pretty much assumed that being a creative in this society meant definite starvation or a seemingly endless drudge through crappy gigs and side hustles that would never lead to real investment in a creative career. However, when Covid hit, things changed. My friends and I created BOLD Entertainment Group around the same time my brother and I created a music consulting business called The Elemntz. Everything I had once done as a hobby I was beginning to do for money, notoriety, and true personal and career growth.
I moved myself to Atlanta recently because I realized it’s time to take what I spent the past year and a half building to a place where creatives ARE living off what they love. The short synopsis of what I just wrote is that I’m pursuing art in LIFE because nothing else brings me joy when I wake up and makes me excited to wake up when I go to bed. Nothing else allows me to work for myself with no one to answer to. Nothing else let’s me express myself when words don’t do the job, to show people a side of me that I don’t have to explain, but instead can paint sonically in real time. It’s the part of my life that lives untainted by expectations from a judge mental world, so it’s where I spend most my time 🙂
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My creative side is boundless at times. Often I’ll be working on a record reminiscent of an artist I’m inspired by, to then turn around and start designing cover art or video promotions for records myself or my brother is dropping. But when it comes specifically to music production, I’m classically trained so my ear is highly critical of sounds, vibes, and I have an appetite for pushing boundaries.
I remember the first time I made a beat, it was like opening a box that had no bottom. I immediately saw the infinite potential for what I could do, but I didn’t have the skill to do it. There would be times where I so BADLY wanted to make a certain type of vibe but just couldn’t because I wasn’t versed enough in my craft. It’s taken 11+ years to get to a point where I feel like I can make just about any type of record I want, with my own style and flare, and I’m still far from where I want to be.
The biggest lesson I learned was to stop comparing myself to other people. Honestly, the true lesson was turning off my social media notifications and halting my tendencies to scroll on apps. It makes you jealous or envious of what everyone else is doing, which in turn takes away from your own craft and turns you into someone who thinks more about others rather than thinking about your own craft
I hope the world knows that producing music, DJing, and CREATING is not about money for me, it’s about designing art that impacts people wherever they are in their lives. It’s about creating incredible vibes with the artists I so look up to and admire, and building future generations of artists and creatives who all care about the craft, not the tangibles
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I honestly just moved to Atlanta sooo hard for me to say. I love taking people to cafés though because the vibes are just right
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Of course. My brother Arktic is working his butt off right now in LA to establish himself in the industry out there while I work to establish one here in Atlanta. He’s also a part of the BOLD team which leads me to my best friends who have helped pull together this musical journey for my brother and I and have done a great job at making things happen in such a tough creative market due to Covid. My family always deserves credit that goes without saying, but shouts to them for always supporting and pushing the dreams
