We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Alexandra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Whitney, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success has been learning how to create my own inner champion. Most people are influenced by their inner critic, but I find real success is in creating such deep belief in you, your product/service and taking action like a champion. Spending time building up your inner champion by affirming good thoughts, celebrating your successes and cheering yourself on all important parts of this! You have to learn to celebrate yourself and push through when no one is watching you.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a performance coach for women entrepreneurs. I focus on helping women reach next level success and wealth while having more joy and ease in their life. What sets me apart from other coaches is my focus on both expanding what you believe is possible and removing the limiting beliefs that are holding you back from receiving it. I’m most proud of the incredible breakthroughs my clients have – the best compliment I receive is when they tell me they are the happiest they have ever been AND having the best year in business! I started working in the corporate world 20+ years ago, working with business owners to scale their business. When my “dream job” ended 10 years ago, I started my business, fell in love with supporting entrepreneurs and found my true purpose in life. It was a difficult transition in mindset from employee to entrepreneur, but the success of my business was great from the very beginning. I immediately had a six-figure business and started to scale. At that time, there were few online groups and its so important to have a community of people you can connect with. I overcame some of the initial challenges by joining more online groups and finding some local women we would have a mastermind night with each month. I’ve learned so many lessons along the way. I keep learning. I think the most important lesson is to follow your joy. Experiment and move quickly. It’s so easy to waste your time on thinking through ideas when you can quickly test in the market and determine interest. And it’s ok to pivot as many times as you need to. My story has had so many twists and turns. They have all made me a stronger CEO and person. Embrace them and every one of the twists will help you build a stronger brand and offering.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I really love to spend weekends inviting small moments of luxury into my life. I love great cocktail spots, moody hotel bars and rooftop restaurants with a fabulous view. Some of my favorites are: Bar Margot at the Four Seasons, The Rooftop at Kimpton Hotel and Aerial Kitchen + Bar at Epicurean. The Spa at the St. Regis is one of the most fabulous I’ve ever experienced… especially that stunning pool. Exhale Atlanta has so many incredible services. I especially love the hammam, zen lounge and body treatments.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is dedicated to Gay Hendricks. It was his book The Big Leap that sparked a deep curiousity in human potential and the invisible limits we place on ourselves. Focusing on your Zone of Genius is a key concept in his book and something I talk about every day with my clients, encouraging them to follow their joy and do use that special gift that only they have.
