We had the good fortune of connecting with Wendy Robles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wendy, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
When I first began my Instagram platform and Business Ventures, it was non-stop hustle and grind. I would work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It was consuming a lot of my time, to the point it was interfering with my time with family and friends. While being driven to succeed is great for any business, it is important to have a healthy balance of work life and personal life. This can be tricky, especially, when you are self employed but you must remember that this balance is healthy for mind, body and spirit.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am very proud to serve the community and help others in their spiritual journeys. I started my business after getting fired from my job as a Counselor. It was a blessing in disguise, I was able to start my business from my living room in Boyle Heights, CA with my last paycheck, doing Instagram Lives and selling my homemade Spiritual Sprays and other products. My humble beginnings included shipping from home, packaging and producing products and doing tarot readings. I was working very long hours. My family was helping with the shipping and handling. There were a lot of obstacles as this was my first business venture and I was basically learning as I went along the way. I faced a lot of bullying online, which is typical in this business, but I learned to develop thick skin. As the orders grew, my friends were able to help me with packing, very soon after, I outgrew my living room. Less than a year later, I was able to open a brick and mortar store (Botanica Olokun) along with my husband and within two years we expanded into two stores. We pride ourselves on being a modern, family owned Botanica. I am proud to say that my brand, Brujeriagirl is now a registered Trademark, my spiritual sprays are highly rated, and I have clients all over the world.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this Shoutout to my Husband, My Children and my Clients who make this possible.
